About Me
CURRENT MISSION
"To see with eyes unclouded by hate." If you get that without the Google, I'll be quite impressed.
ABOUT ME
I'm a Midwesterner from the sometimes-extraordinary, mostly-frenetic, and always-hypocritical United States of America. I graduated from university a few years back and have lived on the East Coast for the last two years. At the beginning of the year, I left Washington, DC and temporarily "retired" after working at the Smithsonian and at a vinyl record pressing plant to vagabond through this fine country. Now I'm back in the area working in the music world and playing in a number of folk and world music groups. Music is my life. I play cello, guitar, and sing, so let's jam!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Only as a surfer so far, I haven't had a space where I can host yet but I'd love to give back once I have a chance. I think of couchsurfing as a sort of gift exchange a la Lewis Hyde!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've surfed a number of times by myself but I've been involved in the culture through friends who've hosted and surfed for a long time.
Interests

Music, Movies, and Books
Best concerts I've seen this year: Kishi Bashi, Father John Misty, Buke and Gase, Lucius
Other stuff I'm listening to now: Arthur Russell, Steve Reich, Portishead, Fela Kuti, Thundercat, Novos Baianos, Gil Scott-Heron
Books: I brought Walden and A Sand County Almanac for this trip. I'm in a Deep Ecology phase right now :)
Film: Rad is the greatest film, so watch it.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was very shy back in the day, but after graduating from high school I went to Brazil as an exchange student knowing literally no Portuguese and somehow survived. That year deeply shaped who I am today and fueled my desire to travel ad infinitum.
Amazing thing I've seen: traipsing through ice encrusted buttes (not butts) in western Washington State after fog had frozen to the trees.
Teach, Learn, Share
Old Souls.
I know a fair amount about music if you need a little guitar, cello or voice lesson. I can teach you to overtone sing if you'd like :)
I'm always down to dig deep into the existential questions of life as well!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Love of music and talking about the big questions of life.
