About Me
Hi!
I'm 24 years old, I'm a student in economics from Brussels, Belgium, and one of the things I desire most in this world, is to discover and meet new places and people. Curiosity about the world is one of the things I value the most, since it opens new doors I didn't imagine existed before!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
There's no doubt that meeting locals from around the world is the best way to experience a new place :) I discovered this when I inadvertently crashed a couchsurfing group in their barhopping night in Beijing a couple of years ago. Both the places, and people were a lot of fun to be around, and I would've never met them if it wasn't for couchsurfing.
I enjoy myself the most when meeting people from all over the world, getting to know the small things which makes life different for us all. There's always entire lifetimes of adventures to share with each other!
Interests
Travel has always been a big part of my life, which I guess may be obvious if you're reading this right now. It's probably not too dissimilar for you, since you're on this great little website too.
I also love photography. I've now been practicing it for five years, done all kinds of work, ranging from being hired as a concert photographer, to urban exploration, and portraits. What I really like about it, is the fact that you're sharing your perspective, the way you see things around you, with others. Art in general is something that can only be found in humans, and I feel like the expression of art is therefore a crucial part of every single one of us!
One of the things I love the most when travelling, is discovering and experiencing other cultures which I'm not too familiar with. There's so much to learn about each other's ways of life, yet so little time too. But my philosophy is to enjoy the moment, and make great memories to tell my grandchildren over a few decades.
Technology is also one of the things I find the most exciting today. It represents the forefront of human potential, and defines our lives in ways that we couldn't have imagined barely a few decades earlier. The things that are derived out of it can be good, neutral, or absolutely terrible, which is always a conversation I enjoy having with others. I'm quite optimistic about it in general, though.
Which brings me to literature! I enjoy reading a lot. Mostly, as of late, some classical science fiction (it's pretty cool to see what some people from 80 years ago imagined about their future, the one we're living in now). I also adore reading detective stories, and stories that retell the grand adventures of characters in a world that's yet been explored entirely.
The planet, and its environment is a topic I care about deeply, and therefore, climate action is something I find absolutely essential for our future. There's a lot to be done, and I'm generally curious to see what people's views on it are.
And following that, there's politics and outer space, which I've been educating myself a lot about in the last few years. Not Belgian politics though. That's a bit too chaotic.
