ABOUT US

Sometimes, we are hilarious ... usually we are boring and unfunny. We will probably sit across from you in awkward silence, while you wonder what to say next. :) (kidding) So sue us, we are nerds with a dry sense of humor, we don't take ourselves to seriously :).

Clubbing is not really our scene, Jonathan can't dance to save his life (it looks like he's being electrocuted - kinda painful to watch) and Michelle doesn't drink alcohol, so it kind of defeats the purpose ... plus we like talking to our hosts :)

We spent almost 3 years travelling around the world last trip (and we've barely scratched the surface). We were English teachers to help pay the bills, also we were teaching life skills to underprivileged youth in South Africa, our summers were spent in Italy teaching English at children's camps :).

Our first goal was 30 countries before 30! Mission Accomplished! Our next goal is to visit 50 countries before turning 50 years old. We have visited 45 countries together so far. We hope to visit 100 countries before we die, and learn about as many cultures as possible. An open mind with a taste for adventure will lead to amazing memories. The best memories and stories come from the unique and awesome people you meet along the journey.

We decided after years of slaving away, and sacrificing to try to save money, that we weren't living our dream, and it was now or never, so we took a leap of faith and started on our journey of the world! Life is too short to be stressed about petty things, cherish every amazing moment, because you never get them back.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Generally speaking, we try to freeload as much as possible ... haha :) just kidding ...

When we surf, we bring our bag of smiles to brighten others' days ... when we host ... umm ... Red Deer CS? Not much happens here ... we try to be considerate guests, we will always communicate with our hosts, maybe a bit too much sometimes :) get me (Jonathan) talking after midnight and I might not stop ...

Nevertheless, we have recruited new members to CS because we love it!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfing is amazing because it proves there are still good people left in this world, who are not motivated by money. CS is a project founded on trust and mutual respect, and I think it it totally awesome! We have had nothing but Positive Experiences!!

Interests

Adventure, travel, history, culture and different types of food! I (Jonathan) have a not so secret love affair with food!

Shawshank Redemption, Notebook, Saving Private Ryan, A few Good Men, Band of Brothers, Snatch, A Beautiful Mind, ... almost any Terry Pratchett book is a hilarious and insightful social/political commentary ...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Swam and walked around A tiny coral atoll in the south Pacific. Stunning!

-A helicopter ride without doors over the mountains of Hawaii.

-Survived insane taxi rides in Istanbul, Guadalajara, Athens, Manila and Bangkok!

-Stood on the edge of a petrified waterfall with no guardrail (I was petrified too)

-Played with lion cubs in South Africa

-Cappadocia: brilliant

-Pamukkale: beautiful
