Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I like to meet (educated) people from different backgrounds.
ABOUT ME
I'm rather quiet and reserved, but generous and thoughtful. Once I am comfortable, I can even be witty. I don't go out much, but I do love ethnic restaurants and comfortable pubs. However, I enjoy meeting new people, and I'm happy to share what I have with fellow travelers. By the way, I just added a baby kitty to my home....
PHILOSOPHY
Treat others the way you wish to be treated, (which makes me a good host or guest...)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
A few years back, when I had a nice, spacious flat, I hosted about 50 people, and people seemed to appreciate my hospitality, accommodations, and sometimes, my cooking... I've been to a couple of local meetings, and in August 2015, I relied on this site to find places to stay in Kharkov, and I met 2 wonderful young ladies who put me up, and several more who met me and gave of their time. I'm using the same strategy to visit Kiev this August.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Hosted 45 people, from 12 different countries, but that's not really an option at my tiny flat now. I'm looking forward to being a guest soon, and meeting more delightful people in Kiev....
Interests
I spend a lot of time reading and watching movies, but I enjoy discussing important issues and learning new things. During the summer, we have many places to swim in The Black Sea. I am a huge baseball fan, so I'm struggling to learn to live without it here, but my computer keeps me pretty much up-to-date on my friends and teams. I love getting out of the city sometimes, on bike or on foot.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I spent 3 months driving around America, seeing major league games in all 26 (at the time) stadiums, but also visiting places I'd never been, like the Grand Canyon, Washington D.C. and New Orleans. I've been to 45 of the states, but Ukraine is my first European country.
At the risk of breaking my arm patting myself on the back, I like to think that my 2+ decades of teaching have improved hundreds of lives...
Teach, Learn, Share
Well, I am an English teacher, so there's that. I enjoy cooking and learning new recipes.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share my experiences, knowledge, and perhaps some wisdom and philosophy. Or I can share a bottle of wine...
