About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I would like to travel to every region of the world, not just to tick off a checklist of places but to grasp the real character of these areas. I'm fascinated with history and geography and I think travelling is the ultimate expression of this.

ABOUT ME

I'm an environmental consultant working and living in Cape Town. Travelling really fascinates me which is a really fun way to gain knowledge and insight into the complicated world we live in. I enjoy the occasional party but I love to reflect in the outdoors and to engage with it too.

PHILOSOPHY

Treat the people who least expect it with respect.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've shared my couch with a number of people from different parts of the world but have not surfed at another surfer's place before. Really hoping to do so in Germany in mid-October.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It's great showing people around the city, makes me discover it again. I have not surfed at another person's place as yet.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I would have to say witnessing the World Cup here for a month in SA.. but not because I'm a fan of soccer but just because it was a great month of festiveness and South Africans really came out to play!!! It gave us a glimpse of how we could take back our cities and streets.

Every time I hike in the Drakensberg (mountain range around where I live)!!!

Teach, Learn, Share

Even though new resident here, I have a reasonable knowledge of Cape Town since I have visited several times (but still discovering). I also have a reasonable understanding of South Africa, which is a dynamic country that is changing all the time. It sometimes becomes a challenge to keep up but definitely something I try to do - definitely have my moments of apathy.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, China, France, Mozambique, Netherlands, Nigeria, Philippines, South Korea, Spain, Swaziland, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, Uruguay

Countries I’ve Lived In

South Africa
