Overview
About Me
I'm a recent graduate of the University of Michigan, looking to meet new people during my upcoming trip to Europe. I will be heading to India for part of the summer, then coming back and spending 5 weeks throughout Western and Central Europe - my tentative itinerary is to go from London - Ghent - Hamburg - Berlin - Wroclaw - Krakow - Budapest. Afterward, I will be moving to New York City where I will be working as a software engineer.
I will be traveling solo for the most part and would love to get to know locals to show me your favorite under-the-radar places to go!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing is a great way to get an authentic feel for the city you are visiting and gives you a unique opportunity to connect with locals, which I value a lot. When in Rome, etc.
Interests
I studied math and computer science with a minor in philosophy in college and would love to talk about any of these. I have also studied the violin for over 17 years, playing in orchestras all throughout school. I am also a huge fan of indie music and would love to get any recommendations for local music/venues to check out while I am in town!

Music, Movies, and Books
I like to throw in a little bit of everything, but you can find some of my recent listens here: https://www.last.fm/user/jonathanthomas3 as well. Some of my most listened-to albums recently are: Either/Or by Elliott Smith (an all-time favorite), Blonde by Frank Ocean, Computer World by Kraftwerk, and The Modern Lovers s/t.
My favorite movies include Pulp Fiction, Little Miss Sunshine, Chungking Express, and Annie Hall.
My favorite books include Catch-22, Stoner, Siddhartha, and I am currently reading On the Road.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I rented a car and road tripped around New Zealand's South Island with a few friends from my university's Engineering Honors Program after having spent two weeks volunteering at a Maori reserve in Auckland. One of my pictures got featured on the main university Instagram page!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can program and am open to helping out with bouncing off ideas or implementations.
I would love to learn about your favorite spots in your city, as well as help with speaking the local language.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Good conversation, a great listener, and an easygoing nature.
