About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Taking a month to drive around the states, sharing stories, taking pictures, and making videos.

ABOUT ME

When I'm not working on science and yoga documentaries or playing in my acoustic hip-hop band in Los Angeles, I work off my laptop as an editor and translator (Chinese to English) of academic work pertaining to China. I am an inner child activist and enthusiast. I am always willing to help those that show the slightest bit of friendliness to me, and I try and give my 100% to anyone I am interacting .

I strive to be tension- and dissonance-free and live an intentional life of good deeds, wholesome living, and creativity.

Once I get my own place I can't wait to host, until then, I'd like to meet people and save money by surfing some couches!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have couch surfed, but I have not yet CouchSurfed... my standout experience so far was probably ending up playing in a band and living with an Indian guy I met in India.

Music, Movies, and Books

For movies, I like it all from the epic to the silly...
I like books that make me laugh AND cry, are somewhat contemporary, and usually are found in the 'literary fiction' section, or the 'spiritual/self-help' section.
I listen to Indian Classical when I listen to recordings, and I play music and go to shows to get my musical fix... those shows include singer-songwriter sets, guitar-based distorted groups, sound healing ceremonies, hip-hop showcases, and musical theater. I'm not a huge fan of listening to recordings, but I am a sucker for really good soul singers, so if I do put on recorded music, it's usually Sam Smith, Micheal Jackson, Whitney Houston, or some other R&B-type music with a poppy vocal master singing their heart out.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-Rode a bicycle down the West coast of the USA, and camped out every night.
-Played lead guitar in a surprisingly successful David Bowie cover band in college, which included me performing ridiculous 70s style guitar solos while wearing make up and women's clothes.
-Built a log cabin in the remote mountains of Virginia with 2 friends (and did a good job if I may say), and lived in it while building it, with no electricity at first and water from a well. All we had for entertainment were jokes, a piano, a guitar, and a shotgun (which also doubled as our home security because there were no police!)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can mend and fix things, I can cook, I can play guitar, and I can teach any combination of the above!
I also have a degree in linguistics, which to me is the ultimate interesting fact discipline, and I am more than happy to share!
I write fun songs, and will always be willing to share!
I also sift through lots and lots of music to find truly moving stuff, regardless of genre, and i will share whatever I have!
