ABOUT ME

As always the first sentence is the hardest so I guess this'll have to do...Hi! My name is Jon and I'm living at the moment in Glastonbury, Somerset - home of rock festivals, hippies, psychics and maybe King Arthur - although I'm not sure I qualify as any of those right now.Having just broken free of the joys of institutional education I'm now floating in that sea of 'what the hell do I do now' and as such have decided to get a real job and be a professional musician. Unfortunately prospects for drummers in Glastonbury don't get much more exciting than djembe circles every full moon so I will be shortly heading off to more exotic places, which is where you come in!I'm a friendly, open, talkative sort of person and would really appreciate any like-minded couch surfer hosts that are willing to put up with me from time to time. I'm also fairly low maintenance - any bit of floor is enough of a bed really! As you can see from my couch status I don't have any space to host at the moment but I am really happy to show anyone around Glastonbury if they were ever stopping by or dropping in.Anyway, I'll add more when I can think of something sensible to say... See you soon!

PHILOSOPHY

Don't rely on simple single phrase philosophies to guide your life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Been off the couch surfing radar for a little while due to being in very very small student accommodation and without time to travel but now really eager to get up and going again! Still can't host but I can point people in the direction of good stuff to do and see around my bit of the world or just meet up for a chat and a drink...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Met a fantastic couple of guys in Cuba through Couchsurfing which completely made my visit! Realised how important couchsurfing can be for getting a real feel for a place away from the Lonely Planet guides.

Interests

Music, dancing, food, wine, building things, learning languages, hills, trees, books, good conversation, photography. I'm always trying to get different perspectives on things and explore what this wierd situation being human is.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: In Bruges, Most stuff by Almodovar, Leon, European Cinema, British Cinema, the Die hard quadrilogy, Lord of the rings trilogy, Gladiator, the secretary, Notorious. I'll add more as they come to me...Music: Honestly and truly will listen and try to find the enjoyment to be had in absolutely anything. Bruckner to Basshunter.Books: Quite a fan of Orwell, Terry Pratchett, Herman Hesse and a fair bit of nonfiction especially along a scientific/psychological/philosophical/spiritual sort of line.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Got really really ill in Varanasi.
Played in a carnival parade in Santiago de Cuba
I once saw a man eat his own head.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm up for learning anything! Seriously, you never know, you could be a natural at the one thing you've never tried. If you wanted I could teach you: How to hit things in a rhythmic way, how to speak another language, how to cook tasty spicy food, how to give a good massage, how to look as though you know what you're doing, how to meditate, how to salsa dance or how to improvise with wierd sounds.Alternatively I could lecture you on the relative acoustic qualities of maple and brass, why drummers really are musicians (promise), why the best way to approach the world is just to shrug and get on with it or how African deities indirectly appear in Jazz and Reggaeton.

Countries I’ve Visited

Cuba, France, India, Netherlands, Norway
