Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I travel around and host people too! (when I can)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

With my ex-partner I've had a few couchsurfing experiences, all very positive! We stayed in Whitby (with the brilliant Billy!) and Edinburgh, and we had guests stay with us from Germany, Austria and Australia.

Interests

I am very interested in nature and wildlife and currently work (albeit in a voluntary capacity) for Yorkshire Wildlife Trust. I support environmental issues and as such feel a bit guilty about how many flights I have taken recently! I also love music, especially reggae (and especially roots reggae from the 70s and 80s). I like to do a bit of gardening and am into cricket and football (actually I have a bit of an obsession when it comes to cricket).

Music, Movies, and Books

My main musical love is reggae, especially roots from the 70s/early 80s. But I also like ska, rocksteady and newer stuff as well. My first love in music was Nirvana and similar bands followed by punk. I also like soul, rock 'n' roll, surf, jazz, rockabilly, (some) country, hip-hop and more: my latest interest is Ethipoian Jazz!

Bookwise I like to read fiction and non-fiction. I think my favourite (fiction) books have been 'LA Confidential' by James Ellroy (much better than the film) and 'Sometimes a Great Notion' by Ken Kesey. I'm sure there's been others that I really like but I can't think of them now! Non-fiction wise, 'A Voyage for Madmen' by Peter Nichols is a cracking read.

As for movies, I'm not a massive one for watching them (I generally fall asleep after 15 minutes, 40 if the film's good) but I do watch them from time to time!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seeing my daughter be born.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can show people things in the countryside! I could even take you on a water vole survey!

Also I could tell you lots of things about reggae and cricket!
