ABOUT ME
I am a US citizen. I moved to Canada four years ago to go to the University of Toronto. I am almost done with a program in Political Science and Spanish.
PHILOSOPHY
Try to live happily. Try to do this without stepping on anyone else. Try to make a positive impact on something in the small spheres we occupy. Be creative, think alot but know when to stop, Make noise and music!!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I just joined. Some friends told me about it. I would love to travel this way one day and offer my couch when I have the space. Until then, I'd like to meet some people surfing through toronto and show them parts of town that I love. Te puedo mostrar mis partes favoritas de la ciudad.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
none yet.
Interests
I'm a student. I'm into talking politics and using/developing my spanish. I read newpapers too much for my own good. I should be reading other stuff instead. I love to ride my bike, recently around the waterfront alot. During the summer months I play drums a lot with a big street band called samba elegua. I love meeting new people from other countries and learning about ways other people live-- the mundane differences are usually the most interesting. I loving spending time with all my people here in Toronto. I love to drink a few (or more) beers and talk. Coffee in early parts of the day a necesity. On occassion I make pathetic attempts at playing sports-- though I do enjoy these moments.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love any percussion dominant music. I like alot of indie rock, punk, jazz. Really all over the map. books are good. I try to read lots of them. lots of non-fiction (mostly poltical science/philosophy for class), some science fiction, other stuff.
recently read: the depford trilogy by robertson davies, Dune by Frank Herbert. I like trying (and mostly failing) to read books in spanish.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have travelled to Guatemala, honduras, mexico, germany, and spain. The most profound experience probably being guatemala. I went there solo.
Day trips and smaller trips around canada sometimes stick in my memory even more. Hart House Farm, jumping into a pond frozen over with ice (a whole was cut first) is something I will brag about for the rest of my life. I did this with Kelli who is equally, if not more brave.
Teach, Learn, Share
Anyone who wants to come to sunday practices of my samba-funk-reggae drumming group is welcome. We are about 20-30 strong and have set songs (no-improv) but anyone can learn, even if for only a day. I'll help you. We only have one rule: "when in doubt, lay-out," if you don't know what's going on, just listen.
I'm always eager to improve my spanish, si hablas espanol, te puedo ensenar como se toca las tamobres y tu puedes hablar conmigo en espanol sobre tu vida y pais (if you speak spanish i can help you with drums and you can talk to me in spanish about your life and country).
