I was born and raised in the UK before catching the travel bug in 2010 when I visited India. A few years later I backpacked around PNG and Bali, and ever since I've been planning the next in the line of holidays. For our honeymoon, my wife and I backpacked through Russia, Mongolia, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Australia. I managed to secure a job in New Zealand working in Intensive Care while on the Transmongolian railway and we have settled (for the time being...) in Whangarei. Next we're planning to get a campervan!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We've travelled through Asia in homestays, hotels and hostels and are tired of impersonal stays. When I travelled Papua New Guinea I had the best time ever as I stayed with friends and then friends of those friends and got to experience so much more of the country.

I also dislike the waste inherent in hotels - new bars of soap, toothbrushes, towels, bedsheets every day. Couchsurfing takes advantages of spare rooms and couches that otherwise go unused.

My knowledge is most up to date with medicine and British politics surrounding medicine (a turbulent subject at the moment!) Also relatively knowledgeable about Asian travel. I'd love to go on bicycle rides or runs with hosts and I can buy you a drink!
