About Me
Hi,
I'm originally from the Island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea, but I fell in love with Berlin ten years ago and have now called it home for six. Before Berlin I lived some time in Norway and for an even short time in Egypt as well.
As a person, I think I'm curious, kind, engaged and independent, I love a laugh and to meet new people.
My free time I mostly fill with friends, nice conversations over food and wine, sowing and creating different kind of things with my hands, going on bike rides, hiking, music, dancing, festivals... among many other things. Languages are high up on my list of interests and one day I'd really like to be fluent in Arabic.
I just recently graduated from a masters in Intercultural Conflict Management and quit my part-time job in the developmental aid sector. I'm also running a project with a group of people where we run workshops for free on topics like strategy and digital security for activists.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
The past two years have been super hectic for me, doing full-time studies and basically a full-time job at the same time, so I haven't been much active here.
However, the experiences I have made via CS before this have been great. I've both got the opportunity to stay with people and to host and met really nice people – one of them being Björk, as my host on Iceland took me to the same party as her :)
With my studies and travels finished, I hope to host again.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I listen to a lot of different stuff, from alternative rock like Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, deep house, techno like Vatican Shadow, post punk, experimental music like Caterina Barbieri, ambient like Brian Eno, classical, but also to hip hop like Loyle Carner and rnb like Solange.. I used to live in Egypt for a short time and there I also fell in love with Umm Kalthoum. Greek 60's music is also top and yeah, I love to get to know new music from the places I visit. No need to understand the lyrics :)
Books: Anything by Elena Ferrante, Just Kids by Patti Smith, I love the poetry of Wislawa Szymborska, and one of the greatest reading experiences this far is most likely Anna Karenina by Tolstoy.
Films: True Romance, The Lobster, Let the Right One In (the Swedish original), Victoria, Toni Erdmann, Force Majeure
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The most recent thing was to celebrate a traditional carnival on the Greek Island of Skyros. I went there with my friend from Athens and her friends and the amount of joy and food and home made wine and friendliness was just.. amazing.
Going on small excursions discovering street markets in Cairo where everything and nothing was sold. Being invited into the small shops on tea and cigarettes and having small conversations without a common language but still with some sort of understanding.
Teach, Learn, Share
Well, I'd be happy to share a good laugh, teach you some Swedish or German, anything about Berlin really, and how to make really good beetroot burgers and you will never miss meat again haha (yes, I'm vegetarian but with a flexible mindset) ;)
I like to learn the history and the present of places and people through the stories of people.
