ABOUT ME

I believe hearing other people's stories adds to the richness of my life. Sometimes when I go out with my friends, I wander off in search of new people to meet. This annoys them.

I grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. Lived for a while in San Diego, California. Now I'm France doing a post-doc.

I love dogs. If you're a dog and have a place I can stay let me know.

PHILOSOPHY

This is probably pretty cliche, but I think it can be summed up by the following quote from Henry David Thoreau:

"I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan-like as to put to rout all that was not life, to cut a broad swath and shave close, to drive life into a corner, and reduce it to its lowest terms."

Movies: Take Shelter, The Moon, anything Sci-Fi, How to Train Your Dragon, Life of Pi, Mad Max. I really enjoy watching movies. They can be about anything, as long as they're well made.

Music: Coldplay, Mutemath, Archive, M83, Keane, movie scores.

Books: Life of Pi, anything by Kurt Vonnegut, Catch 22, Kite Runner.

I'm not entirely sure what this box wants from me. Through teaching, I have the opportunity to share my excitement for science and weather with others while teaching. Is that good?

I don't know. I guess I need to learn what this box is about.
