Hey there!

I'm Jonty. I'm 28, born and raised in Adelaide, Australia and lived in Montreal, Quebec for 2 years at one point. I grew up, went to school, went to university to study engineering and then kind of realised I had no idea why I was doing what I was doing. However, I worked out that I really enjoy travelling, so I've been doing a bit of that and in the meantime working with coffee, in wineries, and in hospitality, and am constantly wondering what I want to do next.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love travelling and meeting people from different places with different cultures and ideas. When I'm not on the road, I miss the thrill and novelty of travel and I find that being able to interact with other travelers is a great way to feel that same sense of adventure. I also enjoy being a guide and showing people around and giving advice.

At the same time, when I'm travelling, my favourite way to experience new places is to feel involved with locals. I enjoy getting a hold on the local culture and seeing how it's similar and different to back home. I believe Couchsurfing holds potential to meet locals who can show me life in their town/city and that I can bring them some excitement or novelty from abroad.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like techno, house and disco, I like hiphop, I like alt and folk rock. I listen mostly to them but I also love funk, classical, and pretty much any other genre to be honest.

I enjoy cinema and am getting more and more into it. I like dramas mostly, anything sweet or touching, and I appreciate anything with beautiful photography in it. I do enjoy watching stupid comedies and terrible movies just for the fun of it as well. I love getting suggestions for foreign movies!
