About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I love Muskegon and want to show it off.
ABOUT ME
I feel like I am a pretty easy going guy. I am married and have two kids. I am interested in so many things, but honestly it is just superficial as I move on pretty quickly to the next thing that interests me. I go through life in a constant state of wonder. Not an awe type of wonder really, but if I were to speak my thoughts, I bet 83% of them would start out with "I wonder..." I wonder what brings people with out of state license plates into Muskegon, I wonder why my wife hates peas and I like them, even though the taste we are experiencing is the same. I wonder why my neighbors don't recycle. I just wonder.
PHILOSOPHY
One less. It's simple yet really complex at the same time. If I buy my produce locally, that's one less mile my food has to travel. If I help someone get a new roof that's one less thing they have to worry about. If I support local business, that's one less buck leaving my community. Using cloth diapers is one less disposable diaper in a landfill. I guess it's about sustainablility but also contributing to the health and welfare of the community.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Up until now, I've participated vicariously through my brother who has hosted a number of different couch surfers. I've supported Couch surfing in theory, just liking the idea of it, but I thought it was time to have my own couch surfing experiences instead of admiring others'.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We just hosted our first Couch Surfers, a lovely couple from Guernsey. It was the type of experience that makes you happy you put your couch on offer.
Interests
In an order just as random as the interests themselves: my daughters, my wife, co-kickin it live, my nephews, traveling, soccer, people watching, belly flops, Oberon, Summer Celebration, sweet shades, March Madness, not watching TV, babies, wireless internet, instead of swearing just saying the first letter - now that's some crazy s, brushing my teeth, black and white photos, my grandpa's bike, European architecture, Big Red football, ADB's, plaid blazers, hearing a good blue streak, nachos, waking up without a hang over, the Hibees, mixed tapes, Guinness widgets, parades, new socks, Helen Beckhorn, locally owned restaurants, using "your face!" as a comeback, NPR, dag gone quesadillas, some good ol' fashioned reminiscing, and chicken tikka masala.

Music, Movies, and Books
I wish a had a bit more time to devote to all three. We have a local, non-profit movie house that shows independent films. I love it, but don't go nearly as often as I would like to.
Books - most of the books I currently read have pretty pictures in them.
Music - I just downloaded two albums from bands that I heard at Muskegon Summer Celebration - the Neon Trees and Civil Twilight. I'm currently digging them both.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Amazing? Hmmm. I once saw a guy moving a couch on his camaro by putting it on the roof and reaching out of the t-tops to hold on to it. That was pretty awesome.
