About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To think of something deep and interesting to type here.

ABOUT ME

Irish guy living in Lilongwe, working with an Irish NGO. I enjoy sports, music, travel, discussing the world in which we live over a few beers.

PHILOSOPHY

It is better to have tried and failed, than never to try at all.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I surfed in various countries such as Sudan, Somaliland, Ethiopia and Rwanda while travelling in 2012. I have hosted previously in Cameroon. Having moved into a new apartment here in Lilongwe, I'm ready to restart meeting couchsurfers!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Getting drunk in Khartoum, Sudam at an Ambassador's Party which I was brought to by my host is probably the most memorable!

Interests

Sport - Gaelic (Irish) football is my number one sport. I also love soccer and am an Aston Villa fan for my sins. Currently training for my first triathlon.

Enjoy music, film, reading (see below) and always interested in trying something new.

I enjoy going out with friends, old and new, and for food, drinks and chats about all sorts of things.

Travel. The bug will never die in me and I take any opportunity I get to travel places near Malawi or further when I get the chance,

Music, Movies, and Books

Too many to mention for all 3, but a few favourites.....

Movies...Withnail & I, 25th Hour, In Bruges, The Departed, The Big Lebowski, Drive

Music...The National, Interpol, Ryan Adams, Josh Ritter, The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys are some of the more modern acts I'm into...Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, Van Morrison, Thin Lizzy are some of the more classic stuff I like.
I also love my traditional Irish music, love an old sing song (Raglan Road being my favourite). I do like hearing different types of music from all over the world...Chop My Money by the Nigerian P-Square.

Books...The Zanzibar Chest by Aidan Hartley. Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts. We Wish to Inform You That Tomorrow We Will Be Killed with Our Families by Philip Gourevitch.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I travelled Cairo to Cape Town overland in 2012 which was unforgettable.
