About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I think I'd like to cruise the seven seas for a year or more.

ABOUT ME

After living in Crofton for 17 years, I'm moving to Glen Burnie near I-97 and 174, right under the BWI flight path. I remember thinking I should living on the runway when I used to travel 120 days a year. I wonder if this is too literal a location?
I'm now about 35 miles from where I was born. The hospital isn't there, but I am.
Been to 47 states.
Been to about 35 countries. Would love to see some more.
I'm a member of ASJA and SPJ, journalism organizations.
I have my SAG and AFTRA cards, but both are inactive.

PHILOSOPHY

Writers don't lead linear lives.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Is this brag time? I spent some time in El Salvador (where my son-in-law's family lives) on a volunteer medical mission.
Two hightlights:
We gave a wheelchair to a woman in her 20s who had been carried around by people since she had polio as a youngster. Although not much of the country is wheelchair accessible, at least now she can get around her home, shopping, and church. Not a dry eye in the clinic.
Although there were several Jewish people on the mission, we hadn't realized Yom Kippur would fall within our dates. That night we were entertained by two Salvadoran folk singers performing songs in Hebrew and Yiddish, under a blanket of stars (the world's birthday candles) in a church courtyard. I still have goosebumps when I think about that night.

Teach, Learn, Share

If it's non-essential, I probably knowi t.
I have a good basic grasp of SEO and Web site usability, some software programs (PC user), and local history.
