About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To fill my life with amazing experiences and beautiful people.

ABOUT ME

I love lots of things. Sports, especially American football, but I would love to learn about the sports of the world. I also love dance, mostly watching it, but I did hula/tahitian dance back in the day and miss it. I'm pretty chill, and I love getting out and seeing what the areas surrounding Seattle have to offer. I love beer, microbrews and imports especially, and consider myself a beer connoisseur. Mexican food, and mole in particular, is one of my culinary passions.

PHILOSOPHY

There are two sayings I rely on:
1. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
2. To each his own.
More than any other rule, the Golden Rule has always stuck with me. It's such a simple concept, and one that sometimes is lost in the shuffle of life. It's one phrase that speaks volumes--more powerful than the 10 Commandments as it encompasses much of the list in it's 11 words.
The second phrase is my attempt to respect what others do in this world that I don't understand. People are ultimately very different, and will like things that I just cannot fathom. Instead of judging them for this, I feel as though it is important to respect their wants and desires. I may not understand it, but I do believe in your right to practice it (as long as it falls under the first phrase).
I try to be the best person I can and try to see things from other people's perspectives. Sometimes this is difficult, but I think it is important.
I love reggae music, and the love for one another reggae music fans have is amazing. I've seen hundreds of people habitate together in perfect harmony at a reggae festival, and I wonder what our secret was.
I don't believe on stepping on other people to get ahead, and I am glad to have found a job where that is not encouraged. I have a hard time with greed, with the ways in which my capitalistic society steps on anyone in the path to become richer.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Kill Bill I and II; X-Men Triology; The Prestige; Batman Begins and The Dark Knight; Pulp Fiction; Fight Club; American Psycho; Hitman; any Bond with Sean Connery (and Tim Dalton); Moulin Rouge; The Island; Trainspotting; Down with Love; Balls of Fury; Kung Fu Hustle; 40-Year-Old Virgin; Superhero Movie; etc. Bloody action flicks with ridiculous explosions are the best. And awesome comedies.

Music: Bob Marley and reggae in general; ska music; Ani DiFranco; Ben Harper; Incubus; Regina Spektor; Horse Feathers; Laura Marling; and all of the awesome music my friends make.

Books: Chuck Palahniuk, Hunter Thompson and Kurt Vonnegut are my literary trifecta. I also love Brave New World, 1984, Fahrenheit 451, The Giver, Herland, young adult lit, and dystopian novels.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I completed my first solo trip in 2009. I went to Vancouver / Victoria, and I feel as though the trip went extremely well. I tried to follow the "solo travel rules" (which I did break the moment I got into town, but it worked out nicely). I hopped on transit, made it around town solely on the transit system, found my way to and from the ferry, and didn't have any bad experiences during the whole trip (well, I did "lose" my state ID and credit card for a bit, but that was part of the broken rule referenced above). I feel as though I can move on to more trying solo trips now that I made it through Canada.
