Hello guys~ Let me introduce myself.

My name is Joonhyun kim.
Probably It's hard for you to call my name.
So plz just call me KERRY.

(I made my english name, KERRY, from an actor, Jim Carrey.
But the problem is, after I made my name, his First name is Jim, not Carrey.
oh! my god! How stupid I am!
So I needed an excuse for that.
In korea, the word, Jim, means something heavy and negative.
So now I can say to my friend "I choosed my name! this is not a mistake"
anyway haha...)

I am a university student, 3rd grade.
My major is a mechanical engineering.
Now I took off the university for 2 years.

In korea, almost young guys must study 12 years.
and someone like me try to study more.

So I studied for around 15 years only on the desk!!
How boring!
B.u.t. my parents forced me to study harder to get a good job.

I didn't want to study more by book.
I want to study culture, people and the world!

I went out my home.
and I have traveled some countries.

Now I'm trying to visit American continent.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Many people I met asked me "Which places was best in your travel?"
Then immediately I used to answer "Brisbane"

Because there are many beautiful places in the world.
But there are only many of my friends in Brisbane.

When I started my travel,
I thought I am a cook, places are ingredients and people are sources.
But until around 470 days since I went out my home,
I knew In travel, people, that's all.

I have each theme every continents.
For example, That of Australia was working holiday, south-east asia was free-travel and europe was classical music.

and from now on, the theme is challenge and sharing culture!

So I decided to try couchsurfing.

Interests

Basically I'm same to a usual traveler.
I like to experience something new and special, their culture, food and so on.

But especially, I like to listening music and basketball.
(In case of music, I don't care the genre but particularly I like classical music)

Of course, although I'm a christian, I like drinking together with talking.
(In korea, Christians are conservative. so they don't drink)

I played hard when I was in high school.
And I was a manager of online basketball community.
(The members was around 2500!!)
Now I didn't played for a long time.
But If I have a chance, I wanna go to watching a basketball game in america!

Above all, I just want to meet new, funny, open-minded people
and share their story.

Because I'm young, I want to know how I can do in my future through you guys.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't care the genres of music.
Usually I listen to any genres of music like rock music, ballad and so on.

For classic music, I really love it.
especially, Like baroque music of vivaldi and bach, I'm most favorite.
(of course, I don't forget mozart and beethoven.)

After I entered my university, I didn't have much time to listen that.
But always I'm serious.
(And through this time, I could listen Four international orchestra concert!
Wien philharmonic, Berlin philharmonic, Newyork philharmonic and London symphony orchestra concert! wow!)

For movie, I like a action and here movie from marvel.
I think Bat man series are masterpiece.
The actor, Christian Bale, he was so nice..

I don't like sad movie.
Because It makes me sad too..
Maybe After I watched that movie, I would not want to talk at all. haha!

I like books about science fiction.
Maybe because my major is engineering.

recently the book I read is the god written by Bernard Werber.
his imagination is so attractive.

Sometimes I am surprised at his thinking.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In SEP. 2014.
When I tried to cross the border between Malaysia and Thailand,
I traveled freely in south-east asia.

So I didn't have any information, booking address and transport for a next place I will go to.

but the officer in checkpoint said "If you didn't have address, you could not go to Thailand!", throwing my passport.

I was very upset but have no way I can do.
Maybe I would go back to Malaysia.

At the moment, A priest in islam helpled me to pass there.
(In korea, It's very rare to see a islamic person. and I'm a christan also!)

anyway, I had to show to the officer my all cash, email address, phone number and so on.
It was same to the priest. his name is din.

after I cross the border, he asked me to stay his house for a couple of days.
As soon as I heared, I allowed.

This is unexpected travel I want!

While I had stayed, I should wear long pajama
(Maybe because of islamic women)

And every morning I woke up with islamic music.
(It makes me tired...)

in case of foods, I don't want to imagine again...
not good for me...

although the people in the village are poor,
for 3days, I can get accommodation, all food just FREE!

I could feel their pure good.

But they are not rich.

For example,
They fill the oil in motorcycle with the pet bottle.
Can you understand? Gas station had many bottles, not machines!

When I visited a school, I could hear some terrorist put bombs in school.

When I asked to the priest why they tried like this,
he answered they just want to show their power.

I can't understand their intention until now.

Anyway they are so kind to me.
I should be more careful but that experience was so valuable for me.

Teach, Learn, Share

Actually I don't have many ability to show.

but If you want to know korean, I can teach korean.
and I already thought korean to people in philippines.

and for a long time, I lived alone overseas.
I mastered korean food to live...

I can show you what the korean food is. lol!

I want to learn every new thing I can learn.
I believe although It can not be related to my life directly, If I learn,
It can be good for me.

Above all, I want to share stories with you.
Maybe we can talk about it all night!

If you are curious for asian culture, I will tell korean culture.

and I had lived in australia for 9 months and philippines for 4 and half months.
So I know a little their culture.

(In case of philippines, Maybe you can not imagine.
How difficult I understand them!!)
