My name is Joon Hyung Kim from South Korea. Currently I'm working as an IT consultant in a Fintech company.

I've been traveling around the world a lot.

I think it all began when I was born. I was born in the US then moved to Korea after 3 months after birth.

Most memorable experience was living in Italy for 3 years in Rome, Italy. It was a lovely time where I traveled with my family and learned English.

In university, I majored in philosophy. I always wondered what the great thinkers of the past thought about life. It provided me with a strong mental background to live a good life.

I truly believe that traveling is not just about visiting monuments but about the people who live in the city.

Interests

I have a lot of interests. To begin with, I guess I am a typical boy who likes almost every sport. I like to play them and also watch them. My favorite sports are soccer and basketball. But I also play tennis, ping pong, badminton and so on. As a matter of fact, I also enjoy playing sports video games. Furthermore, I like to play an instrument called classical guitar. I began learning it in university and was absolutely absorbed by it. I really wish to keep this as my lifetime hobby. Lastly, history has been one of my favorite subjects since young, I felt so intrigued when I watch documentaries on TV. Even to this day, when I have some time to kill during holidays, I would turn on a documentaries.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy listening to rock, ballad, and classical music. In general, I have a preference towards slow music than fast ones. I began to like classical music after I learned how to play classical guitar. Before then, I didn't know that classical music was so beautiful. For movies, I like to watch action movies. Probably because I don't understand the movie's plot when it gets so complicated=) I liked to read mystery books for a long time. My favorite series are Sherlock Holmes, Arsene Lupin, and Detective Conan.

Let me teach you the some of the most basic Korean words so when you come to Korea, you will be able to say some words. I would really love to do that with you.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I believe I can share my experiences of living and traveling around Asia with my hosts. When I meet westerners, I find that most of them never visited Asian countries before. It is not because they are not interested in them, in fact, they would tell me that they really want to visit. Then I would tell them everything I know about Asia. I will share these stories to my host too. How I grew up in Korea and the relationship between the North and South Korea. My travel stories to China, Japan, and Hong Kong. I would be very enthusiastic to talk about these matters with my hosts.
