About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I just came back to Vienna after a year abroad in Cádiz, Spain where I taught in a public school and enjoyed life on that most beautiful spot.

ABOUT ME

I grew up on a small farm in the middle of nowhere in Upper Austria. After High school I spent 15 months in El Salvador to do my civil service. Since then, I constantly try to get away, explore new places and transform my personality.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to pick up as much as possible from different people and to be spontaneous! It is amazing how much being away from home can teach someone. Still, it is crucial to acknowledge the more than privileged position I am in to do all of this. You really can`t be gracious enough for it. Other than that: Change! It is the only constant in life!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

right now mainly hosting! But in spring I want to get away as much as possible during the weekends and get to know more of Andalusia.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

mainly in Spain and Portugal so far... once in Istanbul, too.

Interests

I am curious about a lot of things. As I study languages I have a special interest in them and I am already looking forward to learning another one! I am also really into sports, mainly American football, skiing and soccer.

I guess I don´t have to mention traveling, although I prefer actually going to a country to live and work there. The usual backpacking is nice for a while, but I kind of get tired of that pretty quickly.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have my phases like everyone else. Right now I really enjoy reading hispanic literature. Some recent books: El loco de Gibran Khalil, Un viejo que leía novelas de amor y Historia de una gaviota y el gato que le enseñó a volar de Luis Sepúlveda. I am getting more and more into poetry as well, but mostly unkown spanish authors.

Other than that, I have a strong interest in English, mostly American literature like Kerouac, Steinbeck, Ginsberg or

Some of my favorite movies: Dead Poet`s Society, Fight Club, Waking Life, Trainspotting, One flew over the cuckoo`s nest, Lord of the Rings, Casablanca (yes, indeed), Amelie and Indien! (Austrians will know). Lately, Boyhood really was worth seeing.

Music... I am really into Dave Matthews Band ... saw them 7 times already and still counting ;) Other than that: Beirut, Arcade Fire, Manu Chao and really whatever if it`s good! Lately of course a lot of spanish bands. Really allows you too immerse yourself in the culture.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Generally: spent more than a year in Central America and worked with kids + did a lot of boring office work! It was a very authentic and special experience for me and definitely shaped me a lot.

Hitching a ride in the Albanian mountains... I will never forget this bumpy and reaaaallly wet ride on the back of a big-ass truck.

Riding 4100 kilometers back from Spain by bicycle for 2 months .
