About Me

I love travelling - - but getting to know a new place properly as the locals do, rather than following the tourist routes. I meditate regularly, and I'm probably at my happiest when hiking to the most beautiful and serene places, or when making (I'm a singer) or listening to music (dub reggae, funk, soul, rock, roots, its more the vibe than the genre - the first albums I always recommend are Saudade by Thievery Corporation and Based On A True Story by Fat Freddy's Drop ). I love chatting about the complexities of life and how we can bring a bit of compassion and humanity back to the world, and opening my eyes and ears to the amazing stories and perspectives of people all over the world. I'm also a keen cook and would happily rustle up a few risottos and the like.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Well, initially because I'm spending a month in Hamilton at McMaster University on a knowledge exchange from Sussex University (Brighton, England), and I would really like to get a sense of the city from genuine friendly locals!

But, when work is not taking up all my time, I'd love to spend a year travelling in 2017 and I can't think of a better way to do it! Hopefully I will also be able to host too in the coming months, depending on where I'm living.

I don't have the time at the moment to properly fill this all out, but I always make sure to send a detailed message to anyone I ask to stay with, and of course any questions are always more than welcome!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Performing at Bestival (UK festival) to a few thousand people and taking a road trip across Germany, Holland, Austria, Belgium, Italy, San Marino, and the Vatican City were both great experiences.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a competitive tennis player so would be happy to give someone a lesson if there is a court nearby! Also always happy to talk about my research, where I demonstrate that humans modulate nonverbal aspects of their voice in nonverbal vocalisations to communicate in the same way as the whole mammal kingdom does. Who needs speech? Our worlds only become more complete with the exchange of ideas and perspectives, so I'm always up for a chat about life, the universe, and everything.
