About Me

I am a 23 year old university graduate from New Zealand. I am currently travelling through the States, I have a strong passion for surfing and all water sports. I also enjoy cooking and music, especially the guitar and harmonica. I also compete in triathlons.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am looking to meet new people in the United States, this place is so big that i feel like i am missing a lot by just doing the touristy type things. I would love to be able to get to know locals in the city i go to. I have found that especially in the bigger cities you can get trapped into the guidebooks, and i would really like to experience America at its finest.

Interests

I love to Surf, i have a huge passion for the ocean and watersports. I am a qualified lifeguard and i have coached Water polo and rugby. I also love to cook, and i pride myself in my ability to cook lamb and fish (typical kiwi). But i can generally make something out of whatever is put in front of me.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all types of music, but at the moment i am into bands like Balmorhea, Ta-ku and Toro y Moi. I also love rock bands like Alt J and Manchester Orchestra. I am really interested in checking out the local music scenes. Especially since i have already travelled through Memphis and New Orleans.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once when i was surfing out in Kiakora (South Island of New Zealand) and i saw a black shadow appear underneath me. My first thought was 'oh crap, here we go' thinking it was a shark. I circled me a couple of times, and then popped its head out and it turned out just to be a seal. I was so relieved but angry at the same time. I splashed it wish water whilst sitting on my board and it turned over and splashed me back, then swam off.

If i can have a second thing it would be hiking the bright angel trail in the Grand Canyon. That was an amazing, and exhausting, experience. It took two days, but it was absolutely worth it. Going down= easy. Going back up = nightmares

Teach, Learn, Share

I am able to teach any swimming skill to a reasonable degree, i can also teach cooking, although most people just prefer to eat.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share a friendly personality, a plethora of stories, and a few great recipes that i have picked up along the way.
