About Me
ABOUT ME
I write about climate change and fight wildfires. I also teach and do research at the University of California. I'm comfortable and easy-going, but I'm always down for an adventure.
PHILOSOPHY
Hmm...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've couchsurfed a lot through the last several years. All of my experiences have been phenomenal. Whether it was partying with students in Austin, Texas or scrimmaging with the Medellin rugby team in Colombia, I've found that couchsurfing really increases the depth of my travels.
As a host, I love the variety of people who come to visit. Showing travelers my home is always refreshing and helps me see normal places with a fresh lens.
Interests
I am interested by just about everything. Travel, running, cycling, horticulture, sustainable living, good beer, different people, philosophy, food, literature.
I research the anthropology of fire.
Music, Movies, and Books
Books: Still Life with Woodpecker by Tom Robbins, The Book by Alan Watts, most by Joseph Campbell, One River by Wade Davis, Game of Thrones Series, Kingkiller Chronicles
Movies: In Bruges, Wes Anderson, obscure low budget ones
Music: Scandinavian post rock
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Once I bicycled from Kansas to Guatemala and hitchhiked/bussed to Colombia.
Cycling through Mexico's Sonoran desert listening to Nietzsche's Beyond Good and Evil was pretty cool.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can show you all the local hiking trails and most of the local breweries. I know a bit of yoga and acroyoga if you're into that. I could teach you some salsa dancing. And I love talking about anything anthropological.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Conversation, stories, laughs, and good company.
