Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION:
Travelling across the US with my brother, New Orleans is up next. We want to eat the food you eat, go to the places you go and learn about what you do.
ABOUT ME:
I'm a plant-based chef in Nottingham, UK.
I was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and have been living in sunny England for over 15 years. I studied Chemistry in Nottingham, cooking on the side to make some extra money and enjoyed it so much I moved to Barcelona for a year to cook in tapas bars and learn Spanish. Since then I have been searching for delicious, colourful food that's as good for you as it tastes.
PHILOSOPHY:
"If I'm an advocate for anything, it's to move. As far as you can, as much as you can. Across the ocean, or simply across the river. Walk in someone else's shoes or at least eat their food. It's a plus for everybody." - Anthony Bourdain
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Previously surfed and hosted extensively in my own country, excited to do it all again in a new place!
Moving from place to place it's the people you meet that you remember the most. If you ever want to understand a city you have to understand the people who live there.
I'm on here to make new friends and take shortcuts to all the best spots and the best food!
I also sometimes have a couch available and would love to show you around Nottingham and we can cook some vegetables together.
Interests
No.1 Interest is travelling the world, food is part of travelling for me so I love to eat and cook new things wherever I go. I also like staying healthy, sports, music, art, languages and having long conversations.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hitchhiked from Nottingham to the top of Ben Nevis in Scotland, the highest point in the UK. We didn't take any money and we didn't have a plan but good people came from unexpected places to get us where we needed to go and all the way back again. Highlights included attending a retirement party, helping someone repair water coolers in exchange for a ride and having a bath in a river.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm always trying to learn more. I want to learn about food, people and places.
I can share what I know about cooking and ceramics. We can speak English or try speaking Spanish...
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can cook for you or we can cook together. Also coffee, beer and conversation.
