About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To make the most of my 6 months in Brazil and immerse myself in Brazilian life....aproveitar ao máximo a vida no Brasil durante os 6 meses

ABOUT ME

Hi! ¡Hola! Oi! My name is Jordan and I am obsessed with cultures, languages, traveling, and meeting people around the world! I was always interested in international affairs and studied International Business and Spanish in college. What really opened my eyes to the world and travel was the semester I spent abroad in Toledo, Spain in 2010. It was an unforgettable time where I lived with a host family, made Spanish friends, had an internship, and learned as much as I could about Spanish language and culture. After moving back to my home state of Minnesota, USA, to finish college, I returned to Spain - this time Madrid - and immersed myself for a year in the Spanish capital, working as an English teacher part time and traveling around the country and soaking up as much Spanish culture and as many festivals as possible! While living in Madrid, my roommate told me about the year she spent in Brazil and I loved hearing her dazzling stories of adventure and fun. So I started learning Portuguese and joining meet ups to learn about Brazilian culture and now…I’m off to live in Brazil for 6 months!!! I will be in Rio de Janeiro from September 2014 - March 2015 and looking forward to immersing myself in Brazilian culture and life as much as possible. I will be working remotely for my software company while in Rio and outside of work plan to speak as much Portuguese as possible, joining a basketball or other sports league and possibly learning capeoira or jiu jitsu….really anything to get me out of my apartment and out with people……estou muitio empolgado para morar no Brasil e pra fazer amigos lá!

PHILOSOPHY

I sincerely believe that if you can dream it and believe in yourself, you can accomplish anything you want in life.

"He who says he can and he who says he can't are both usually right."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I will be moving to Rio de Janeiro in September 2014 and hopefully couchsurfing until I find an apartment (I can cook, teach English and Spanish, and give great hugs :) Once I find an apartment, I plan on hosting people so they can also experience the great city of Rio!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't surfed or hosted a surfer yet, but am excited to give it a try! I've had numerous friends participate already and everyone I've talked to has had a very positive experience. I have been to various meetups and have love the open mindedness and adventurous spirit of couchsurfers.
