About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To do my thing, have compassion, and help others.

ABOUT ME

I just finished a 16-month stint of English teaching in South Korea and backpacking SE Asia and am now living in a cabin near Montreal, Canada. I'm basically a curious, affable human whose primary objective is to find meaning and love in this strange existence. Also jokes, laughs, etc. I'm into "outdoorsy" activities (hiking, longboarding, skiing, etc.), the Internet, novels, philosophy, economics, and obscure rap music.

For more about me, check out my blog and Soundcloud (I make rap songs sometimes):

PHILOSOPHY

"Life is stranger than even the strangest among us can suppose."

Terence McKenna

"Worry is preposterous; we don't know enough to worry."

Wei Boyang

"Art is the proper task of life."

Friedrich Nietzsche

"Why can't we all just get along?"

KOOL A.D.

Be good to people. Flow with the go.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far I've only couchsurfed three times---once in Japan, once in Philippines, once in Malaysia---but all of the experiences have been unspeakably awesome and have inspired me to want to continue to partake in this astonishingly bodacious social phenomenon until I perish. I'd like to surf anywhere and everywhere, and once I have a semi-permanent home of my own again, I will definitely be hosting.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

As I said, I've only couchsurfed thrice so far, but I've also met several couchsurfers who were staying with friends of mine or who I met up with while living in Busan, South Korea. I also met up with a couchsurfer in Singapore. Couchsurfers, so far, seem to tend to be open, adventurous individuals. I love it.

Music, Movies, and Books

Whoa, don't even get me started.

Music: KOOL A.D., Why?, milo, Open Mike Eagle, MF DOOM, tennyson, Rachmaninov, Ratatat, ediT

Movies: All things Paul Thomas Anderson, The Matrix, The Truman Show, Requiem for a Dream

Books: Crime and Punishment, 100 Years of Solitude, Tao Te Ching, The Prophet, Kafka on the Shore, etc., etc., etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I would say living in Asia for 16 months is the most amazing thing I've done. Also proud to have written a couple books worth of words on my website. Performing a few live rap shows in South Korea was pretty wild. Snorkeling in a coral reef in the Philippines was tremendously cool. Scuba diving in Indonesia, jungle-trekking in Malaysia, kayaking in Halong Bay in Vietnam. Having family and friends whom I love and who love me.
