ABOUT ME
Hey! My name is Jordan and I'm 27 years old. I'm in a classic case where I've attended college for 4+ years and I'm really starting to realize it doesn't offer what I'm looking for. I want to travel the world and experience other cultures and people and learn as much as I can about myself and everywhere else. I just traveled SE Asia for 3 months, and when that came to an end I realized I wasn't ready to go home so I applied for a working travel visa in Australia and now here I am. :)
Check out my YouTube channel! I make travel vlogs of my adventures around the world: http://www.youtube.com/JordanPike
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to meet people that are traveling the world and hear their stories. I'd also love to help people travel as cheaply as possible, as I'd like to do this one of these days in the near future.
Interests
A big one is, of course,... travel! Though my travel experience is mostly limited to the US, I have big plans to start traveling internationally at least once a year from now on. So far my eyes are set on Peru and New Zealand. Another big passion of mine is the KENDAMA! If you don't know what it is, YouTube it. It's really cool! I also highly enjoy making Travel Videos for my YouTube channel, photography, reading, spending time with friends, trying to broaden my perspective on life. I also really enjoy movies and series.
Another interest that I've recently been getting into is photography. I acquired my first decent camera a few months ago and have been getting so much joy out of it. It allows me to get creative and helps me appreciate all the beauty this world has to offer. The universe, for that matter. I really enjoy taking photos and timelapses of the landscape and the sky. I've also gotten a little experience in street photography, and found myself enjoying that a lot as well. Photos and video in general are just great. :)

Music, Movies, and Books
As for books, it all started with Harry Potter. This series turned my interest for reading WAY up. I enjoy fantasy books such as The First Law by Joe Abercrombie, The Runelords by David Farland, Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin, and I finally just read The Hobbit, which was great. Angels and Demons by Dan Brown stands out in my mind. I've also read the popular romance books such as the Twilight series and The Fault in Our Stars. Every good story needs some romance mixed in!
My music tastes are pretty random, but I was big into the punk-pop when I was a kid. Blink-182 and Sum 41 were big for me. Shiny Toy Guns, His Infernal Majesty, Death Cab for Cutie, The Postal Service. All good stuff. Or course a lot of other random bands. Alternative Rock is a good genre. The Beatles and Johnny Cash are a couple more.
Movies is always a tough one to answer. There are so many good ones and they tend to blend in a bit. Brad Pitt is the man. Legends of the Fall is jumping to mind. I loved the visuals in Avatar. This one's too tough to pin point. Lets talk actors/actresses and go from there. :)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Some amazing memories in my life include:
Growing up at my local skatepark. My best friends and older brothers basically lived there and we had a blast having skate sessions every night of the week. I eventually got to work there as well, which was a dream job as a teenager.
Hiking out in Colorado for my first time (and every time after that). My best friend's family owns a house in Boulder. I was lucky enough to get to join them on family vacations out there and my friend's father introduced me to the mountains. I've been back out there basically every summer since I was ten. Some of the best memories and experiences in my life. I have a long term goal to summit all the mountains in CO over 14k feet in elevation. 11 down and about 42 to go!
This one's a bit strange, but driving 26 hours straight from South Dakota to Florida to visit my older brother who was in the Navy stationed in Jacksonville. It was my first big solo road trip, and I took it head on (with lots of snacks and caffeine). I got to drive through a lot of big cities and it really opened my eyes to how easy it can be to see the world; you just have to get up and go!
Teach, Learn, Share
If you stay with me, expect to learn how to play the kendama! It's a big passion of mine and is more fun than you can realize. It's basically the ball and cup game, except there's three cups, a spike, and the ball has a hole in it for spiking! The first time you spike the tama (ball) will be comparable to when you lost your virginity. ;)
What I Can Share with Hosts
I have a full couch and a love seat available for crashing on. My shower is available as well. I've got TV and Netflix if there's something you'd like to catch up on. Good conversation as well!
