Mainly hosting. And I've done it a lot. Probably about one surfer per week before and since my trip.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

From a hosting perspective, I've met so many amazing people from all over the world. It has been an fantastical experience!

From a surfing perspective, I've come to realize that most hosts do not bother to respond to couch requests. I can deal with a decline, but no answer at all is not ok. Just to give you fair warning, I'm gonna be looking at response rates for people who send me a couch request. I'll respond either way - because that's the way it should be - but those with high response rates will get priority.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked in the Grand Canyon.
Spent a weekend 10,000 feet up in the (Colorado) Rockies.
Went on an 8-day road trip of California with a fellow couchsurfer I hadn't met until she flew in to SD for the trip.
Sold everything and went on a 5-month, completely spontaneous backpacking trip in Europe.
