About Me

Hey, what's up! I am Jordy, 26 years old from The Netherlands. I graduated in April 2016 for my Bachelor of Computer Science and IT Infrastructure Design.

Since September 2017 I am the proud owner of my own business in IT.

Besides that I'm staring to a computer screen for 8 hours a day, I love to get out in my spare time with friends. Going out and festivals are on my list of things I like to do! My friends admire my social behaviour and positive vibes when we hang out.

The "couch" in Couchsurfing is an addition to a cultural exchange for me. If you can offer me a couch, I will be most likely more than happy to take it. But my main journey is to meet people, go out, talk, laugh and enjoy life. I'm not looking for free places to stay or a free hostel.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I wanna feel home away from home, but in a local way! I've seen most of the touristic places in Western Europe in the past decade. It's time to discover the other part of the continent, the East! In september 2015 I've travelled to Hungary, Macedonia & Kosovo. This trip was an eye-opener for me, exploring other cultures and meeting people living their lives in a completely other way made me hungry for me. I've heard amazing stories and heartbreaking stories from people living in these places, thinking of standing in their shoes influences my daily behavior back home a lot since then.

Interests

Besides my general interest in technology, I am obsessed with music and vinyl in particular since my childhood. Please blame my parents for that....

I also enjoy cooking, especially for other people, I've failed art class back in high school but I'm able to create some art on a plate.

I'm very open-minded, you can talk with me about anything that interests you. Some people did show me stuff they made, create and maintain in their lives during my own traveling, some off them I'm still following today. It's interesting to learn about things you don't deal with in your own life. Once again, we can learn from each other!

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite music genres are like sitting in a rollercoaster with broken brakes. Most of the time I listen to rock and pop music. Some of my favorite artists are Gorillaz, Muse, Joe Bonamassa, Foo Fighters, RHCP, The Police, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam and David Bowie (R.I.P.).

On the movie-side of things I like to watch drama and comedy movies. I also appreciate documentaries about lots of subjects but mainly history and music.

Oh yea, when I was a little boy i've read all the Harry Potter books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Drove over to Budapest from The Netherlands in 2014 to visit the Sziget Festival! Unforgettable!

Teach, Learn, Share

Like many surfers, I might be able to teach you some Dutch words and share the Dutch/Belgian culture with you. Unlike some other surfers, I can cook delicious meals and I enjoy doing it! I would be more than happy to slam some pans around in the kitchen for you.

If you are inconvenient about your English language skills, don't be afraid! I've proven in the past that I'm a very patient person with these kind of things. Check out my references, one of the people that I've met actually mentioned it. :D

What I Can Share with Hosts

When you let me stay at your place, you will have a very friendly, social and nice guy over which will show a huge amount of interest in you and your country. Tell me the real story, if I want to know fancy general things I can google it for sure! That's not my idea of learning about others...
