About Me

CURRENT MISSION

experience beyond my imagination

ABOUT ME

i want to travel! i took my first trip to europe this summer and i'm hooked. now i just have to save more money. i've done a moderate amount of trekking through the US. i love roadtrips. i like to make plans but only because it makes the unplanned so much more exciting. i'm a very logical person. i like to try new things. i don't eat meat with the exception of fish on rare occasions. i don't eat much dairy either. i have the cutest dog in the whole world! and i am a lucky girl in love with a wonderful man named mark. we live together and travel together. he just doesn't get along with computers so you won't find a profile for him. he's pretty cool though- you just have to trust me on that.
right now we are both studying public health at PSU and would like to be teachers.

PHILOSOPHY

some people say i'm uptight and that i worry too much. i would say i'm thoughtful. i'm a planner- it comes from working as a stage manager. but i've learned to go with the flow. my friends appreciate that i take initiative and make the plans. nothing is set in stone, ever. i used to put too much pressure on myself. who doesn't at some point? but that was making me sick, so i let go. i'll always be the logical, organized libra of the group but i've come a long way. i truly believe that everything happens for a reason.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

we've hosted and surfed! it has been such a great experience so far. it has been such a wonderful reminder that there are many truly good people in this world.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

i've been on many couches of friends, and friends of friends, and completely wonderful strangers. thank you to all the people who have opened their doors to me! the couches are great, but the company is better.

Music, Movies, and Books

i don't like scary movies. i'm not picky about music especially if it has a good beat. paul simon is my favorite. and i love good old rock n' roll. i like to read anything that makes me think or challenges my beliefs. tom robbins is a favorite. i don't like to watch tv with the exception of 'friends'. yes i am a dork and own all the dvds. its my guilty pleasure but at least i can admit it and take the beating for it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

one? there isn't just one that sticks out. i have many great memories. some of the more amazing moments have happened at music festivals throughout the midwest. there is something so magical about 15,000 good people in one place, listening to good music. i've seen the sunrise on the east coast, and the sunset on the west coast. i've lived in four states and met so many beautiful people who have all made me who i am for better or worse. and i wouldn't change any of it. my proudest accomplishment is moving to chicago by myself. i came from a small town and i survived that huge glorious city. it gave me so much confidence.

Teach, Learn, Share

i could teach you how to ice skate, or twirl a pencil over your thumb when you are bored in class. i could cook some great vegan dishes with you. i can understand having conservative family members who don't understand this whole couch surfing thing. i would share my thoughts and experiences with you on relationships, friendships, family and politics. i will listen to you and i won't tell you you're wrong.
i want to know what i don't. i want to empower young women. i want to make universal health care a reality. i want to adopt children. i want to make a difference.
