About Me

I'm a graduate of Hobart and William Smith Colleges (a small liberal arts college in Upstate New York). I studied French language, comparative literature, and Spanish language, but I love learning anything and everything.
I've traveled all over the world trying to meet new people and couchsurf whenever I can. I truly believe there is nothing more vital to traveling than the people you get to meet along the way. Even though I have been using Couchsurfing for about 6 years, to this day I still get a kick out of introducing it to my friends and travel partners and seeing their reactions to the magic of human connection through Couchsurfing.
For the past two years, I've been working as a soccer coach and studying Mandarin Chinese in Taipei, Taiwan. I love making new friends through language exchange, and I especially love feeling like I can connect with strangers, even in passing conversations on an elevator or a bus ride.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet people, to get to know a place through the eyes of someone who really knows and loves it for everything that it is. Talk to me about art, history, politics, religion, that really good book that you read last week, the latest gossip about the next-door neighbor, your job, your dreams and aspirations, anything. If I've had at least one passionate, engaging conversation (in whatever language(s)), I consider my day a success and my existence worthwhile.

Interests

I grew up in a small, rural part of New York State (not the city!) Now that I live in a big city (Taipei), I have become extra appreciative of natural places with few people and beautiful scenery. Meeting people who feel the same is always a special kind of connection.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm an adrenaline junkee, so bungee-jumping off of a bridge in Ecuador was one of the most thrilling things I've ever done!

Teach, Learn, Share

Always say yes to new opportunities - even if you don't want to, even if you don't understand or aren't familiar with them. Trust that there are other people in this world who are going to help you along the way of whatever it is you're doing.
