About Me

I am convinced that both experiences and knowledge should be shared.

My life is simply alligned and driven by this concept.

I moved permamently to Austria (Vienna) since November 2014 to study (M.Sc) and ended up staying to work.

Find me on Twitter @JorgeLuisBotero.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to get to know the real Europe. Not just the "post-card" Europe, but also the people, their cultures and manners, and hopefully learn and make a lot of friends in the process !

Interests

hmm tough question...

My interests orbit around so many things that is hard to explain. I could say that i'm interested in everything about people, from essential things like their cuisine, all the way up to the great things people are capable of achieving.

I love science, literature (even though I'm a newbie hahaha), music and its roots, languages and technology. I love wine, photography, history and societies.... the list could go on and on ...

  • photography
  • dancing
  • cooking

Music, Movies, and Books

well, this is hard to answer without a huge list of each, so let me wrap it all in a sentence:

I like rich ones (music, movies and books). I like the ones that transmit a powerful message, the ones that make yourself question about your own perceptions and the world you live, and mostly, the ones so rich that can change your life and your world if you are deep enough to get them.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Why not more things?

1. Camino de Santiago (or Jacobsweg or Jacobian way). 780km on foot + bicycle in 29 days from Roncesvalles (Navarra-Spain) to Santiago de Compostela (La Coruña-Spain).

I finished.... broke, injuried, wanting to just sleep for two weeks straight... but finished it glorious and happy. It was a personal and spiritual challenge (not religious), and it may have been one of the best things I've done.

2. This trip!!!! VIDEO: https://vimeo.com/143559568

3. Half month road-trip in Romania with no reservations or fixed plan.

4. 10 days road-trip in Portugal, same approach.

5. 21 days trip in northern Sweden.

6. I wanted to escape from my own life for a while, so I decided to take some clothes and travel around Ecuador with only USD$ 147 in my pocket, and contrary to what many people thought, I was the best trip ever !!! 1900+ km, 10 days, 5 Cities, Countless challenges and the most important: I made real friends and have stories that last for ever. I hope to meet one day with you, whoever is reading this, and tell you about it !

7. I wanted to share my knowledge (which is so small) and to distribute the enormous knowledge available out there about my career (Logistics and Supply Chain Management), to help all people in Latin America and anyone interested to grow their companies, economies and societies.

So, having absolutely no idea about technology or anything related, I decided to create and launch a free online magazine about Logistics and Supply Chain, updated every week with new knowledge available all around the globe, and acccessible from anywhere with no subscription fees or any barrier at all. Also, anyone interested in publishing something via this magazine should be able to do so for free....

And I did! I managed to create and launch such a thing!!! and WHY? Because I can, and if I can, why not share it? Now, there is a 4000+ people community around this magazine, hungry of new knowledge and best practices, who benefit of the interesting things we publish and re-publish.

Check it out now in

Teach, Learn, Share

"Sharing" is my motto, I would share anything I can!

I would learn as much as possible from people, their way of seeing and moving around this world.

Teach?? Sharing and teaching are quite similar, but teaching requires an interested audience! If someone is interested, I could teach my language, my carreer, my culture, some cooking, dancing and anything I am capable or know about :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

So many things! From a latin dance to some cooking, or maybe a deeper understanding of the very complex and surprising dynamics of Colombian and Latin American societies... You choose! I hope to share as much as I can with the people I ambout to know from now on as a member of Couchsurfing.

Aside from a nice trip, I think getting to know others is the best deal of the Couchsurfing initiative.
