About Me

Hello everyone, I am Jorge.
Actually born in Spain, but trying to keep alive my oriental roots. I am a very proactive, enthusiastic and kind person. Always open to discuss controversial issues, listen to other people and to their points of view. I really love learning from what people have told me.

**Try not to think about it as a hostel**

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Apart from the obvious (it is a way to travel for people who can't spend lots of money in accommodation), I think it's not the point.
It's a quite great way of meeting new people, all of them full of stories, because people who couchsurf are those whose aim visiting a city is not only staying at the hotel and swimming pool, but those who may have seen what not many have seen.

Interests

Into many musical genres. Many people might be surprised when they first come to know me and I say I love dancing salsa and bachata, but it becomes normal after a few weeks haha. However, my body moves with almost every kind of music.

Hopefully, books have always surrounded me and when not studying, they're always a good partner with whom to share an adventure.

Really like cooking, although the result is not always good.

Music, Movies, and Books

1984(George Orwell, probably one of the best books that had made me think and reconsider aspects of this crazy world), Brave New World (Aldous Huxley), Debt (history of 5000 years), Cronicles of a Death Foretold(Gabriel García Márquez), The life of Lazarillo de Tormes, and many other classic Spanish literature. Moreover, I really like Dan Brown.
Recently reading a lot about gender, LGBT issues and human rights.

The Kooks, Bastille, Imagine Dragons, Coldplay, One Republic, Hozier... maybe my favourite kind of music. Also listen to Vance Roy, Three Days Grace, Metallica, Avenged Sevenfold, and Foo Fighters.
Also Mon Laferte, Izal, Orixas, Calle 13...

Not very into films, but I like the classic movies, or those that can make you think such as Memento or Shutter Island . Superhero movies always welcome.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sleeping under a sky full of stars in the middle of Sahara desert.

Having walked hundreds of kilometres through Morocco, almost alone.

Slept in Doñana National Park's white sand beach for a night.

Rode the whole island of Santorini at night in motorbike.

Lived 1 month in Palestine in a refugee camp (no, it's not made of tents) . Saw the Israeli occupation. Passed through the toughest security Airport control of the world.

Teach, Learn, Share

I really like to make intercultural exchange, as I find it undoubtedly a way to enrich yourself. That's why I try to travel as much as I can, and usually not with much money. I don't mind being alone, and indeed, I've learned to appreciate it recently.
I'm always trying to live the city by diving into the culture of the country.

I've been 1 month in Palestine two years ago, which is enough to see the Israeli occupation and talk for it for hours and hours. Stop the occupation!

In 2019, I have been 7 months in Argentina, in an exchange, getting aware of the social context of the country. It has been one of the most enriching experiences I've had, seeing all the political shift in this continent in just a few months: Argentina, Chile, Bolivia...

One backpack is enough to go to the edge of the world!
