About Me

Hi! I'm Jorge, originally from the north of Portugal, and I spent many great years living in Coimbra. These days, I’m based in Delft, The Netherlands. I just reactivated my profile (July 2025) and looking forward to connecting again.

By profession, I'm in the tech world, but what truly fulfills me are two things: art and travel.
I enjoy experimenting with video art, painting with watercolors, and like many others, I love watching series, films, going to concerts, or spending time at music and art festivals.

There’s still so much I want to learn in life, improving my surfing skills and learning to play the piano are two things on that list.

I enjoy meaningful conversations with open-minded people, especially when it comes to the big topics: environmental challenges, economic systems, and the future of AI. I believe these exchanges are key to understanding not just others, but also ourselves.

When I travel, I try to connect with locals whenever possible. For me, the heart of a place is its people, and Couchsurfing has given me some of the most enriching experiences that way.

Hosting Philosophy
I prefer to host people who have at least a few references, as it helps build mutual trust. I don’t usually host for just one night, it’s hard to create any real cultural exchange in such a short time. Two or three nights is ideal, so if you’re sending a request, please mention this detail to show you’ve read my profile :)

Other things about me
I make time for running or the gym almost every day. I’ve completed three marathons so far, and I’m already thinking about my next challenge!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm here to experience the real spirit of Couchsurfing—meeting people who see travel as more than tourism. I love discovering new places through the perspective of those who live there, which always leads to a deeper, more authentic connection with the local culture.

Couchsurfing is also a great way for me to learn other languages and understand different ways of thinking and living. I truly enjoy the cultural exchange, the stories, and the friendships that come from sharing time with people from all over the world.

I can share lots of tips, stories, and local knowledge about Coimbra and Porto, two cities in Portugal where I lived for several years. Whether you're looking for cultural spots, hidden gems, places to eat, or just how to experience the cities like a local, I’d be happy to help!
