Hi my name is Jori and i'm 19 years old. I was born and raised in Gouda (yes, the city of the cheese you have on your sandwich). Two years ago i was full of dreams i wanted to pursue, but i had no idea how to fill in my life. I got a solid plan now for the future, but i'm still very spontaneous when i get the chance. I believe you can create your own chances so i chose to have a gap year. Currently i am travelling on a moped through all of Europe. A lot of people tell me i'm crazy for doing that in the winter, and i guess i am, but bad weather isn't that bad when you got the right equipment.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm travelling through Europe on my own and i have already met some very nice locals (not through couchsurfing). We had a great time and it made me realize that the best way to see the most amazing places in the city is to join the locals. That's why i would love to join this community.

Also, next year when i'm (probably) living in Rotterdam, i will be definitely hosting. I think it will take me out of the daily routine by having a friendly stranger around now and then.

Interests

I played soccer for 12 years, but that passion made place for a new one: Krav Maga. I'm just practicing it for over a year but it got really addicted to it because it makes you mentally and physically fit.

I also love hanging out with friends in bars or going out. Or a relaxing day on the water we have close to Gouda.

But besides that, i think my biggest interest is getting a taste of new things. When i'm old i want to be able to say: i've done that.

Into the wild is my all time favorite movie.
I like pop and some rap music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When i was younger, i went with my parents to Sweden and we did a raft tour there for a week on a self made raft. This was one of the best experiences of my life and it made me love the nature even more.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can learn you some self defense techniques that Krav Maga has been teaching me. Juggling is something i'm pretty good at, so maybe i can teach you some tricks.
And of course you can ask me for some dutch lessons, if you are really sure you want to learn that language.

I'm always interested in learning new languages so that's almost a must if you host me.

I would really like to hear about your passions and goals in life. Listening to other people's dreams has always helped me figuring out mine, even when they are not the same. I hope we can share these goals and grow a little more self knowledge and maybe get inspirered for new things.
