About Me

I'm sorry I am unable to host at the moment, but I would love to meet up while you are here if you're out and about and looking for some coffee and a chat!

CURRENT MISSION

Most of the ramblings below were from when I was travelling; I have been in Wanaka for about 4 years now. My partner and I and our 2 year old daughter have bought a house in Hawea Flat where we have 1.5 acres of beautiful land, 20 chickens, a lamb, a cat, and plenty of gardens! My current mission is to learn to grow things, to become more sustainable, to teach my daughter where food comes from and how to enjoy fresh veggies!

ABOUT ME

I am meticulous about organizing and making check-lists for everything I have to do. Then I completely ignore them. I try to avoid that dirty 'P' word.. Plan. My assumption is that if I plan, nothing will go accordingly. If I have no plan, I can never be nothing like Freud! Here... this is what Freud looked like..". (hahaha I was deleting a no-longer-relevant paragraph and apparently I failed so I ended up with that sentence. Hilarious, leaving it.)

But I meant to say if I have no plan I can never be let down.

I love being in a state of fascination. I always feel like a fresh babe, but I do this with intent. I surround myself with people who amaze me and shy away from those who don't. I love to learn and feel like I always have a ways to go.

PHILOSOPHY

My life is not extravagant, and I don't have everything figured out, but I'm on my way and I couldn't be happier. I would like to travel more and become more open-minded and knowledgeable, but I have goals and am making good time. I'd like to have enough money to posses the things I want, but I don't need much. I'd like to become more than a jack, I'd love to become a master of some art, but I feel as though I will happen upon passion as I explore, and explore I will. I am insouciant about the things that will set me back, as they are inevitable and are the things that teach you the most important lessons. Ill try my hardest not to look back or ever feel sorry for myself. The life I live can only be determined by me. I am, and strive to be, ardent, spontaneous, intrepid, and frugal. I make no plans but base my actions on goals that I have set for my life, to get the most from it. I am far-sighted and look towards the future. My daily decisions are influenced by this vision, but I refuse to stress over the things that have no long-term effects. Material things have no value in the future, only experience, love, memory, knowledge, happiness, beauty, and passion. What is a life if not for happiness? What use is a future if there is no past to reflect on? Which is better, a long life of ‘comme ci comme ca’ that leads you to… where? regret? Or a life that takes chances, revels in its beauty, even if it means a sacrifice of time, body.

I'm also very introspective which is what lead to that GIANT self-absorbed paragraph.... if you're still reading, congratulations on your fabulous attention span.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

In an attempt to travel to Sydney, Australia and then on to explore much of New Zealand, somehow I ended up in Costa Rica for two weeks where I made some of the most incredible memories to date.

I eventually made it to Sydney for another week, and then NZ. I WWoOFed, slept in my car, stayed in hostels, and was welcomed into peoples homes.

I moved to Wanaka where I fell in love with the place, the people, the beauty! That was four years ago and I'm still here.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couch-surfed for the first time in St. Thomas. I thought it was brilliantly brilliant! Still hope to get a chance to head back and visit Ryan again! :)

I have surfed a few times in New Zealand and have had nothing but fantastic experiences!

Music, Movies, and Books

Anything you want to recommend. I am a die-hard fan of The Used but my musical interest expands well well beyond emo-punk-rock bands and dreamboats like Bert McCracken =) Music is all about the mood, and I am capricious.
I enjoy a variety of books, from Anais Nin to Chuck Palahniuk to Nicholas Sparks. I have a long scroll of titles I plan to read.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

ONE!?
Cave tubing in Belize
Hiking and beach-lounging in Arcata
Pool-side breakfast karaoke-ing in St. Thomas
Contra dancing in California
Driving around back roads in new Zealand, stumbling upon incredible falls, beaches, hillsides, people...
Naked bungee jumping into the ocean
Learning to snowboard at Treble Cone, Wanaka, NZ
Raising a beautiful girl!

Wanting to learn to surf!

Teach, Learn, Share

I was giving away my shoes from the trunk of my car, and later met the girl's boyfriend who said, "ah, you're the one who gave her leather moccasins, silver stripper heels, and cowboy boots! To say that was quite the variety is an understatement."
I don't have a type, when it comes to shoes, music, or people. I like potpourri!

We have recently bought our first home on 1.5acres with chickens, a lamb, a cat and gardens galore, so I'm learning to garden! Strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, rhubarb, corn, potatoes, broccoli, tomatoes, peas, lettuce, spinach, and herbs. Please come share this experience with me :) and teach me to cook!

Anything that can be taught to my daughter I will be so grateful for: languages, dance moves, crafts, music, whatever you've got!
