About Me

I am a 27 year old uni graduate, taking a year off from life to travel, explore, experience, learn and grow.

I'm very easy going and would love to learn about your life, and tell you about mine. I'm a very open person, so feel free to ask me everything you'd like!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Between September 2016 and September 2017 I want to backpack and hitchhike from the Netherlands to New Zealand. Quite a distance! Quite the opportunity to meet new people, visit places, experience cultures and learn about life.

Interests

My hobbies, whilst at home, include: Gaming, wood crafting, wood carving, drawing, traveling, camping, (folk)dancing.
I love animals and plan on getting at least 1 dog when I settle down.

Whilst on the road... Who knows what else'll grab my attention?

Music, Movies, and Books

Some of my favorite writers: Terry Pratchett, Robin Hobb, Raymond E. Feist, Terry Goodkind, Maddox, Douglas Adams (I largely read fantasy novels)

Music I listen to: Metal, Drum 'n Bass, Dubstep, Chillstep, Rock, Hard rock, Pop, Folk, Club, House, Alternative, ... What I don't like listening to are apres-ski, modern rap (eminem's good though), RnB.

And last but not least, Movies I always enjoy watching: Shawshank redemption, hitchhikers guide to the galaxy, butterfly effect, back to the future, die hard, fast & furious, guardians of the galaxy, iron man, anything from marvel, pixar, dreamworks, disney... Loads and lots and plenty

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I can find the smallest things amazing. I really enjoyed watching thousands of leaves being blown about by the wind in front of me back in Bratislava.

Teach, Learn, Share

I believe acceptance is critical to a healthy life and mind. Learn what basics you want to function on, secure them, and explore.
Accept others for what they are, especially if they aren't what you'd like to be. Accept the experiences they offer you, and decide wether you want to continue receiving them.
Learning from everybody is where wisdom comes from.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A willing ear coupled to an open mind, stories of countries and travels, maybe some wood carvings if you'd like and if I have something ready. I can cook, clean, am good with computers (though can only read english) and am quite handy with most tools. I made some of my own furniture, for instance.

I really want to help in the household! It's the main way I feel I can contribute and be part of the household instead of just being a guest (and a burden).

For previous hosts I have assembled kitchens, installed washing machines, defrosted fridges or just cleaned in general.
