About Me

I'm a man who is enlightened in a smaller world, since 2009. Amazing how exciting and rich things are when you get off of your comfort zone. I'm originally from the US. Since 2010 I've been couchsurfing (through a different website) in many countries I've traveled so far. And since 2015 I've given "Couchsurfing.com" a try. I've traveled to Omsk (in the Russian Federation) and couchsurfed from the best to the "not so best" of hosts. I've started a new lease on life and I've learned years ago to respect other cultures. I'm not a flag-carrier; in other words, I'm not a fanatic who loves to display the "stars and stripes" everywhere. Goodness knows I've seen plenty of that back home with certain group of migrants. I teach English for a living and have been teaching for 8 years. I love to try new ideas to get pupils motivated. In the late spring of 2009, I traveled to Russia (which is the first country I've visited) and stayed with a host in the Far East, who was also a friend of mine. I've always have a fascination with Russia since childhood. I've also visited Moscow (which was the first city outside of the US I've visited); it was only for a few days but my experience in Moscow was mixed, for a city which has been rich in tradition and history it also has a dark side - dealing with pickpocketers and some superficial jerks with self-esteem issues [who've got their funny ideas from out West/Europe] for example. Despite some setbacks, I've always have an infatuation with the Russian culture, and the people in general.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've been traveling around the world since 2009, and couchsurfed with some interesting hosts through a different website, and I would like to meet new interesting people through this site. In some places I'm met with some wonderful hosts, some of whom I've made friends with. I hope to establish new connections and try some new ideas.
