At some point we (Jorrit, 30 and Dagmar, 27) were tired of sitting behind a desk all day so decided it was time for a change. We always wanted to see more of the world so we both quit our jobs, we rented out our house and are now traveling the world. For how long? Where to? What after? We'll see!

For us, the traveling is not about seeing every church, cathedral or other touristic highlight. For us it's more about meeting new people, learning about their life and culture and hoping to make a true connection.

We are both open, sincere and honest people always willing to help other people. Where Jorrit is more calm and thoughtful, Dagmar is more outgoing and expressive.

What we appreciate in other people: sincerity, honesty, enthusiasm and humor.

Before starting our trip we lived together in our house near the centre of Groningen (Netherlands), worked as financial accountant (Jorrit) and manager of a orthodontic clinic (Dagmar). When not at work, we liked to exercise (different kinds of sports), cook dinner for and hang out with friends, go to the local food market, listen to music or watch a movie.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We really love the concept of meeting people all over the world and getting to know them and the way they live. We believe in kindness and trust and it is nice to see how many people (in this harsh world) share these ideas!

As we are now traveling the world, hosting is not a possibility for us but when we get home we will definitely host other Couchsurfers and show them our beautiful city of Groningen (the Netherlands)!

Interests

We love to travel, cook and eat good healthy food, have fun with friends and family, have a good conversation, do all kinds of sports and outdoor activities (we love to hike and enjoy the nature), listen to music/visit small concerts. We are also very interested in a sustainable, peaceful and sharing world and try to play our role in it.

Music, Movies, and Books

We have a very wide interest for music (from jazz to singer/songwriter to electronic), the most important for us is that it's music with soul/effort in it. We like to explore new music and visit small concerts of new/upcoming artists. For us, not many days go by where we don't listen to music.

Teach, Learn, Share

We are very interested in how you live, your country and culture and your take on life in general. And of course, we are happy to share ours.

Also it would be very nice if we can cook together to learn about the way you are eating/cooking and we also are happy to share our cooking experiences and ideas about healthy food (we think to know a lot about healthy food and if you are interested we love to share!). After cooking it would be nice to have dinner together and enjoy a good conversation and a laugh.

We are also very interested in (local) music and can also share our latest musical discoveries.
