ABOUT ME

Myreille and I met in London in a youth hostel, coincidentally we both happened to be from Canada. I was looking to live and work in London while she was just spending a few nights there while travelling through Europe. She left to go back to Quebec to work and save up money to come back and travel with me while I stayed in London for 5 months attempting to save money to continue travelling while getting to experience life in another country.
Fast forward a few months and Myreille came back with me to travel throughout the UK and Europe. After this wonderful experience we moved back to my hometown of Winnipeg where we both re-enrolled in University. We worked in Quebec city during the summers to pass time with Myreille's familly and I am now fluent in French too.
Fast forward a few years later and Myreille now has a Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Studies while I now also have my Bachelor of Education. We both currently work as teachers at Heritage International School in 6th of October, Egypt (close to Cairo). Since we have arrived in August we have been exploring what Egypt has to offer and are looking forward to seeing more of the world. We both have been feeling very lucky that we get to experience the culture everyday through the interactions that we have with our Egyptian students.

A little bit about us...

Jory

I'm 29 years old from Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada. I have 3 older brothers and quite a large extended family. I play a few musical instruments (jack of all trades, master of none) and have been doing so since the ripe old age of 12. I'm friendly, laid back, and responsible but there are times when I can still be a bit of a goofball. I graduated from university in 2010 and wanted to take the opportunity to travel while I could. So in November I took a plane to London found work and a place to stay in an attempt to save money for travel. As it turns out London wasn't an easy place to save money, but regardless I was still able to travel for about 9 months throughout Europe (and a bit of Africa) with a person that I really care about. Currently Myreille and I are living and working as teachers at Heritage International School in 6th of October, Egypt. I am looking forward to getting the opportunity to meet new people and continue our adventure while living abroad.

Myreille

I am 26 years old and I am from Québec city, Canada. French is my first language. I have a sister that is two years younger than me and we have always been very close. After high school I studied Theatre and upon receiving my diploma, a friend and I decided to travel around Europe. It was an incredible experience. We visited Paris, Barcelona, Malaga, Tarifa, Granada and then we split ways; I went to London, where I met Jory, while she went to Germany. Jory and I continued traveling together for a while before going back to University.

Travelling made me discover and see so many great things, meet incredible people and learn so much about myself and others. The beauty of Couchsurfing is that it allows me to be a part of other peoples' great adventures.

I recently graduated from the University of Manitoba with a four year Bachelor of Science Degree in Nutritional Sciences and am putting it to good use as a teacher at Heritage International School in 6th of October City, Egypt.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We began our couchsurfing experience a few years ago but I have been unable to use its wonderful services since we were back to being poor students who lived at our parents house. All of our hosts that we have previously stayed with have been excellent and were willing to go the extra mile to help us out. Now that we are once again living abroad we are so excited to couchsurf for the first time in 5 years. We are looking forward to continue to meet other people who are passionate about life, love, happiness and of course travelling.

Anything related to food; how our diet affects our health, the science behind cooking techniques, and most of all (let's be honnest), eating.
Going to /reading theatre plays.
Drawing and painting.
Board Games.
Guilty Pleasure: I can pass hours looking at puppy pictures and videos on Instagram.
