About Me

I'm just another Dutchie with a travel addiction. I truly believe that you don't have to be rich to live a luxurious life. I can enjoy a nice picknick in the park as much as sneaking into a 5 star hotel and swimming in the (rooftop)pool. As a behavioral psychologist I'm interested in health behavior and sustainability. As a research I'm currently looking at the value of work. So, why do people work and what can companies do to increase job satisfaction.

During my travels I've biked through Germany (1500+ km), hitchhiked down the coast of Croatia all the way down to Albania, found a second family in Istanbul, relived my family history in Indonesia, kept coming back to/almost accepted a job in Malaysia, took care of chickens/ducks in Australia, and couch surfed in a desert camp in Jordan. Now for the summer of 2021 I'm trying visit Svalbard and be among the 1000 most Northern people in the world.

During my studies I've lived and worked at an international student dorm in Amsterdam. It was my job to make sure that everybody had a great time in Amsterdam and I loved extending that privalige to couchsurfers. Oh and ps, I also have a (very small) boat in Amsterdam to make your trip complete!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: All over the place.
Books: I'm not a big reader but I always travel with a book which doubles as a notebook and as a souvenir.
Movies: In Amsterdam we had this thing called 'sneak preview' where you'd watch a movie that isn't officially released but you have no clue which movie will be played before entering the cinema.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Used couchsurfing to find a computer to have a online job interview while traveling.
- Swimming in the canals in Amsterdam, which are clean by the way, and organising an air mattress boat race.
- Live band karaoke in front of 500+ people.
- Buying the most beautiful boat ever (see picture or find "Anna de Woonboot" on Google maps).
- Organising Potluck dinners during which everyone brings a dish from their own country to bring all cultures together at one table.
- Run a half marathon in Albania without proper running shoes.
- Couchsurfing in a desert camp in Jordan.
