About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I am very interested in to know the social movements of our time, the new culture that is emerging from them as new responses to the present capitalist crisis, and in the critique of the dominant economic thought. We need a new thinking. We need a new philosophy.

ABOUT ME

I am an easy going guy, relaxed, willing and cheerful. I try to be opened minded, not dogmatic and always learning from the experiences of everybody.

I like to know the history of the places I visit, their specific forms of art and their own customs. I like to take long walks in the nature, in the mountains, in the cities. I like jogging.

PHILOSOPHY

I am a PhD Student of Philosophy of Science at UNAM. I am economist. But I think that having a PhD doesn´t make any difference in the kind of person you are. In Mexico we say "lo doctor no quita lo pendejo" to mean that being a doctor doesn´t make you, necessary, a better person. There are many persons who have alot of money, or PhDs but are arrogants. I think that a good person is somebody who helps others without expecting something in return. I like say with Kant "always recognize that human individuals are ends, and do not use them as mere means to your end."

Music, Movies, and Books

I like punk (The clash), rock (the beatles, pink floyd), ska (Panteon Rococo, Maldita Vecindad, Banda bassotti) goth (lacrimosa) and classical music (Bach, especially to study).

My favorite movies are when Nietzsche wept, Rosa Luxemburg, Reds and Vamos con Pancho Villa (I think the best mexican movie ever).

My favorite literature books are George Orwell Down and Out in Paris and London, Dostoievsky Crime and Punishment and Los de abajo of Mariano Azuela

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

mmmm I think in one moment: when an organization in which I used to participate won the student´s elections in the Faculty of Economics at UNAM and I became in the representant of the students for two years. That was totally unexpected by me! I thought we will lose against the other student organizations because they were bigger and powerful (in some cases supported by political parties). The organization where I used to participate was smaller and with little political experience. But in the last moment we won... In that time I didn´t know nothing about practical politics. So I had to learn quickly. I had to read many books and to talk with many persons in order to learn from their political experiences. Finally, my role in the Faculty was not bad. We fought to defend the student´s rights and to democratice the University.

Teach, Learn, Share

We can talk about social movements in Mexico, Latin America, Spain and the US. About marxism, anarchism and philosophy of social sciences.

I like to dance salsa and cumbia too. If you want I can show you ;) I like to cook. I can make mexican food very testing jejeje and I like to learn how to cook food from other countries.
