About Me

Hello there!
My name is Josca, and I am a 22 year old girl from the Netherlands.
When I was 18, I decided I wanted to go traveling because I couldn't decide what study I wanted to do. My biggest dream was to go to Australia, so that's where I went first. I spent six months in Australia, one month in New Zealand, and on my way back home I went to Taiwan and Thailand for a few weeks.
This trip was the best decision I ever made, it changed me so much in a very positive way (I know it sounds cheesy, but it's true).
When I got back home, I did a study to be a make-up artist. I had always been dreaming about being a make-up artist, and I love being creative and making people happy. I absolutely loved going to this make-up school. In the meantime I got a job in a bar, which was also a billiards centre. I really started to enjoy hospitality.
After my study, I knew I wasn't ready to settle yet, and decided to work some more in hospitality to save up money for another trip.
I have worked in that same bar, and later in a hotel for a few years. In the meantime I did some make-up artist jobs.
When I was 21, I really felt like I had to leave again. So on February the 14th (how romantic) in 2017 I left again. I spent three months traveling in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Singapore and Indonesia.
At the end of May I came back to Australia on a tourist visa. I worked for 7 weeks (for accommodation and food) on a horse stud in a beautiful area in South Australia. I loved it, and I've learned so much more about horses. After this, I've been on roadtrips from Adelaide to Perth, and from Darwin to Perth.
I've seen almost the whole country now, so now I'm excited to stay at some places for a little longer to see what the Australians live like, exchange cultures and make new friends.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’ve stayed in so many hostels now, and have been camping so much.. but never have I tried Couchsurfing! Would love to try it because I heard so many good things about it. I’m always up for meeting new people and make new friendships!
Hope to see you soon ;-)

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite movies and books are definitely Harry Potter. When I watch anything else than Harry Potter, I usually watch a comedy or an interesting documentary.

There are lots of music genres I like. I’ve learnt myself how to play guitar and keyboard, and I’ve recently been learning how to play the ukulele. But I’m definitely not a pro yet so I still want to learn more about these instruments!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Travel South East Asia and almost whole of Australia.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to learn some more instruments (or more about the instruments I’m already playing).
I also really like languages, and I’m always trying to learn more and more.
Maybe you can teach me something I don’t know yet!?

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share with you all my amazing travel experiences. I love having endless talks where at the end you don’t even remember how you got to all these subjects.
I really like trying out new recipe so we can cook some nice foods.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Belgium, Cambodia, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Germany, Indonesia, New Zealand, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Viet Nam
