PHILOSOPHY

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Was open to hosting people & taking in waifs & strays when settled in the UK, but not happened.

Have had own place since Jan 2014 in Hampton Hill next to Bushy Park and near Twickenham in London.

Update...now living with lovely wife so chances to take in others are more limited (not actively looking) but still not averse to the odd visitor.

Wife has lived in Italia and is fluent in Italian, if that helps. We've also most recently had an amazing a trip to Columbia (Aug 2015) so either reciprocating a visit or helping us polish up on our Spanish would be welcomed.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Like the real surfing...limited

Interests

People & Places. In that order....then Sport.

As a failed sportsman, most sport also piques my interest. Still like to dabble and play football when time allows and middle aged injuries permit!

Have taken in many global sporting occasions on my travels , including a World Cup & seeing the Lions (rugby) thrice!

Sadly however, my most prominent sporting experiences are now my real couch surfing experiences...in that am stuck to the couch for big games or events! *

*Unless it comes to the odd STFC ** game (**bonus points if you know who stfc are :)

  • running
  • surfing
  • sports
  • soccer
  • rugby
  • world cup

Music, Movies, and Books

Love film and really should go to the cinema more often!

Is it sad to say that Shawshank is still probably my favourite film!? Realise it's a bit populist, but is still a great movie and can watch over & over.

Despite my own language limitations, do find a lot of my fave films are foreign flicks (w/ English subtitles of course)! City of God, Festen, Amelie & Downfall (Das Undertang) spring to mind...as does anything by Pedro Almodovar, but especially 'Talk to Her' - a rival to Shawshank as my favourite.

When I was younger one of my favourites was Escape to Victory!

Don't watch much TV these days, unless it's sport or getting into a good series on Netflix, most recent was Narcos.

Like listening to music and reading too, but don't seem to do either enough... unless one counts surfing and viewing a lot of banality on the web as avid reading!?

Should definitely read more novels & despite liking movies more, do recognise a good book should always trump the film version.
