About Me

I was raised as a Boy Scout, with an appreciation for nature. My first significant mountain hike, a 63-kilometre journey to our highest mountain and back in a single day, happened when I was 12, I still remember being energetic enough to play football afterward 😂, I love the summer mountains, hiking challenges, and peace of nature

I’ve always been a sports enthusiast, particularly fond of football and Messi the Magician. For a while I wanted to live in Barcelona. To test out the city, I transformed my three-door car into a cozy, very small travel dorm and drove there to see Messi play. On my first road trip, I met some people through CS and Barça won 6:1 - it was perfect.

In 2014, I told my Spanish classmates that Russia would, within 5 years, take more than they had at the time. I was off by 3 years. After the war began, I joined the active reserves of the Army of the Czech Republic. Let’s hope that well prepared army and determined people are enough of a deterrent.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Meeting new people. I met many amazing people here. On a road trip to Italy I met a guy without whom I know I wouldn't enjoy Venice half as much. People have the incredible ability to surprise, by their character, knowledge, kindness and many other traits.

Interests

Climbing is my current passion, not only is it physically challenging for the whole body, for strength, flexibility and balance, but also for the mind, psychologically, it demands trust in yourself and your partner, and often the route is sort of a riddle that you can gradually find a solution to. I love it. If you're also a climber, then consider yourself automatically pre-approved! 😂

I would have never guessed that theatre would become one of my passions. I've started attending improv classes and am steadily, yet inevitably, falling in love with it. When I was asked to pretend to be an animal of my choice (I obviously chose a lion 😁), I was initially taken aback. But behold, I managed it, and it has helped me overcome my fear of embarrassment. It feels a lot less scary when you do it on purpose. If you appreciate the arts and enjoy having fun, you might just get an invitation to our performance!

I believe strongly that effective solutions to world problems must be systemic. That’s why I care deeply for technological progress and the consequences. For example electrification seems to me like the right answer, not only for green future but also to decrease the dependency on fossil fuels and their suppliers. I plan to start a solar farm one day. Business-wise, it is not a great idea now, but I like the purpose of it, so I am saving up 🤞

Music, Movies, and Books

Anything that makes me tap my feet, which I do quite often unconsciously 😂

I love movies; it lets me live many lives. To pick a few - Shawshank Redemption, Good Will Hunting, Top Gun: Maverick.

The first book I read was ‘Záhada tajemného zámečku’ and I remember it vividly, the group of young wannabe detectives discovering mysteries of an old castle. Nowadays, I love to read biographies, self-improvement and technical books, I believe there’s no better way to dive deep into a topic than by reading books about it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The achievement that I treasure most is that I matched two of my good friends together and they eventually started a family. This is more fulfilling than conventional accomplishments, such as hacking Windows for admin privileges at the age of 10 (my brother had forbidden me to play games on the computer so I had to, obviously 🤷‍♂️) or completing my bachelor’s degree in two years instead of three.

Teach, Learn, Share

Through my insatiable curiosity, I have gained extensive and detailed knowledge about a wide range of subjects. Being an attentive listener, I've gleaned insights from the many remarkable people I've met. Over the years, I've formed opinions that are not only worth sharing but are also open to being challenged and further refined. So, if you dare, I welcome the opportunity for discussion and growth!

As a result of my dedication to my body and health, I've set up a small gym at home where I exercise regularly. My simple goal is to stay healthy and vigorous for as long as I'm fortunate enough to live. Alongside this, I've also earned a fitness coach certification. I might put you through stress tests, tell you why you feel exhausted and what to do about it or if you are like me then we can praise and challenge each other and obviously share the joy over a well-deserved dessert.
