Hello!!! I’m José Paulo, from Brazil 🇧🇷

A few months ago, I started a travel challenge with my best friends, where we photograph people around the world using a Polaroid camera, creating instant portraits and shared moments that exist only once. We shared our journey on Instagram.

We first did this project last summer across the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Poland, Italy, and Switzerland. We documented the journey through @thepolroidproject on Instagram

After returning to Brazil, I immersed myself again at university, studying pure mathematics, which I love, but eventually faced burnout. That experience taught me that balance matters. This time, I’m continuing the challenge independently, slower and more intentional. Because of that, I decided to take a gap year to focus on traveling and meeting people around the world.

I had experience with Couchsurfing during our travel challenge, using my friend’s account.

Couchsurfing played a huge role in those experiences. Staying with locals, sharing meals, stories, and everyday life. Now that I’m traveling on my own, I decided to create my own account to continue meeting wonderful and inspiring people.

As a guest, I’m quiet, respectful, organized, and genuinely appreciative. I enjoy deep conversations, simple routines, and learning from different ways of living. I’m always happy to share stories, photos, and a bit of Brazilian culture.

Musica, film e libri

I don’t really believe in having one favorite thing. I see favorites as something that changes with time. I prefer to think in terms of what I’m enjoying at the moment.

When it comes to music, I listen to many genres, especially indie, rock, and deep house. Right now, I’m completely addicted to “Today” by The Smashing Pumpkins.

For movies, i really love The Handmaiden by Park Chan-wook, Angel’s Egg by Mamoru Oshii. And Pi by Darren Aronofsky. I also really love anime in general.

As for books, two that deeply marked me are Thus Spoke Zarathustra by Friedrich Nietzsche and Civilization and Its Discontents by Sigmund Freud.
