About Me

I hail from Adelaide, the largest city and capital of South Australia (don't worry if you've never heard of it, a lot of people haven't!), but needless to say, it is an underrated gem of a city that I love.

Currently my lovely wife Vanitha and I are on a year long honeymoon, we have been making our way through Asia overland (mostly) from Singapore to Japan and have been loving almost every moment of it! After Asia we will then head to the USA for three months.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To connect with other people who are passionate about travel and gaining a local insight into places that I am staying. And hopefully be able to host some interesting people in the future as well!

Music, Movies, and Books

Jazz, Funk, Soul and Hip-Hop are my absolute favourite genres of music, though really do listen to just about anything. My all time favourite musical artist would have to be Prince. I have played in a number of different bands over the years of very different genres.

I am an obsessive film viewer of any genre from any country from any year, I have viewed over 3000 films in my life (yes, I do log it). Apocalypse Now is my all time favourite. Like many others, I have a deep, unabiding love for Star Wars:

Likewise with books my taste is very varied, though I do have a soft spot for sci-fi and hard boiled detective novels of the 40s. My favourite recently published book is Marlon James' A Brief History of Seven Killings (an absolute modern masterpiece).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Co-organised a three day multi genre music and visual arts festival called 'Lost City 3: Endless Possibilities Forever' in my hometown last year.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share my hilariously over the top knowledge of film with you (I'm an asset to any quiz team!), I can regale you in thrilling tales of adventure on the high seas (note: I have not spent any time on the high seas, but many roads), I can give you tips on improving your everyday conversational Australian slang that will surely receive many quizzical looks from non-Aussies.

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you want, I could take a nice photographic portrait of you or your pet! I could give you film, book or music recommendations based on your interests! If you ever visited Adelaide I could lead you around the many cool small bars and cafes around town and introduce you to the eclectic and varied local music scene!

Countries I’ve Visited
