Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet new people who know their way around. I don't want to be a typical tourist, but rather I want to see new places for what they really are, not what's on a postcard.

Interests

I can talk about food all day, I love to talk about recipes and technique, food production, cultivation, and food politics, restaurants and chefs around the world, bread baking, and pastries, food chemistry, nutrition science, and of course home cooking.
I used to play sports when I was younger, I don't play any sports anymore, but I like to talk about American Football, Hockey, Olympic sports, and fitness in general (even though I don't make much time to know the athletes or statistics). I am currently a novice in Yoga and I am dabbling in calisthenics.
I love music and music theory. I am a fan of rock and roll, jazz, blues, funk, classical, American folk, (broad strokes here I know) and I'm open to other genres too. I have limited knowledge in hip hop, rap, techno, electronic, or pop. I like to sing and play instruments too. A lifetime ago, it seems, I practiced piano (10 years) and alto saxophone (9 years), but I've recently been rekindling those practices.
I like movies and television but I don't have a very wide range of knowledge there either. It's not for lack of interest either, I just watch specific shows and I don't make much time for new ones.
I love to travel and recently, I've been acting upon it. I would love to see the world over the course of my lifetime. It's a big world with countless places to see, people to meet, food to eat, cities to explore, and cultures to experience.
