I'm living in Japan learning the language at Nihon Keizai Daigaku on a year abroad, having received a scholarship to come here from Oxford University last year. Next year, I want to start my DPhil in Film back in the U.K. and also do some work with mental health charities. I'm easy going and love to chat.

Couchsurfing is a great way to meet open-minded, interesting and hospitable people while I or they are travelling. Also, being a poor student but wanting to make the most of my year in Japan, Couchsurfing is the best option!

Right now, I'm massively into my Jazz - Weather Report, Snarky Puppy and the like. Generally, I listen to all sort including Bob Dylan, Bombay Bicycle Club, The Beatles, Beethoven - and others that don't begin with a 'B'.
Movies have been what my recent education has been all about so I love all sorts! I really like Korean films like 'Poetry' and 'Secret Sunshine', Japanese directors like Ozu, Hollywood Classics, as well as more popular stuff like Madagascar and Zoolander.
At the moment I read a lot of fiction - Game of Thrones, The Tale of Genji, The Luminaries. Having just arrived in Japan I'm also reading Manga like Genji and Deathnote.

In Japan I cycled from Onamichi in Honshu to Imabara in Shikoku. I found it very hard but such a beautiful journey!
